A killer clown will soon be dominating the big screen with the release of Clown in a Cornfield on May 9, 2025. Given the Rotten Tomatoes score the film has earned with its early reviews, there’s a good chance the film will see some great success, potentially launching a new horror movie series.

Clown in a Cornfield is based on the original book by Adam Cesare, which was published in 2020 to very strong reviews. Eli Craig, best known for helming the beloved horror comedy movie Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, directed the film after co-writing the script with Carter Blanchard. Ahead of the movie’s release in May, a new official trailer has just been launched, revealing a sneak peek at the anticipated film. Check out the new trailer below.

10 Amazing Horror Movies That Leave You With More Questions Than Answers

Effective horror is full of the unknown, drawing you in with fear and mystery. But some scary movies go all in, leaving viewers with more questions.

There have been many killer clown movies to come out of the horror genre over the years, but rarely are they able to achieve widespread critical acclaim. That’s the case with Clown in a Cornfield, which managed so snag a very solid score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes with its early reviews from critics. That puts it above all three of the popular Terrifier movies, with the second installment holding the highest score of the trilogy at 87%. It’s a good sign heading up to the release, with original author Adam Cesare hinting that many more sequels could come if the movie is a hit.

“I would love them to make those movies,” Cesare said, per Cinapse. “But I also, I understand the economics of it. Like, people got to go see the this one. So I’m not going to put the cart in front of the horse on that one. I have been for a little while now, writing Clown in a Cornfield four, which I can’t tell you the subtitle to because editor’s still a little mad that I told people I was writing the fourth book.”

Clown in a Cornfield will be released in movie theaters on May 9, 2025.
