Yu-Gi-Oh! video games have been an immensely varied group of projects over the years. Some of them have followed the rules of the trading card game to the letter, while others have been rather abstract and focused on spinoffs of the game, like Dungeon Dice Monsters or Capsule Monsters.

For years, it has been difficult for players to obtain retro games for the franchise, as some of these titles never left the Japanese market while others are only able to be accessed on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance or be played using those cartridges on the original Nintendo DS. However, Konami recently announced a game titled Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection will finally allow players to enjoy some of the franchise’s most beloved retro titles on modern consoles and PC.

Yu-Gi-Oh!: Early Days Collection Will Contain 14 Retro Titles

Rare Older Experiences Will Finally Be Obtainable For Western Audiences

For a long time, Konami had stopped making Yu-Gi-Oh! video games, instead focusing on the physical Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game and the immensely popular mobile game, Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links. However, the developers have recently changed course and announced Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection, a massive collection of 14 of Yu-Gi-Oh!‘s oldest experiences.

While some of these games have been released in Western territories before (i.e. The Sacred Cards and Reshef of Destruction) others have never been released outside of Japan (i.e. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters). The new collection includes 14 titles and ranges in release date from the earliest in 1998 to the most recent being 2004. These 14 titles include:

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (1998)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters: Dark Duel Stories II (1999)

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel (2003)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Tournament (2004)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Destiny Board Traveler (2004)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh!: 7 Trials to Glory: World Championship Tournament 2005 (2004)

Overall, the return of so many retro titles to modern consoles is a joyous occasion for many fans, and some of these titles are the best that the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise has to offer. From intriguing stories like Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Sacred Cards to immensely enjoyable spinoff titles like Yu-Gi-Oh!: Dungeon Dice Monsters the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection has something for all fans of the franchise to enjoy. Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection is releasing on Nintendo Switch and Windows on Feb. 27, 2025, and will cost $49.99.
