After over 40 years, two of the late Akira Toriyama’s biggest franchises are finally getting an official crossover. The special crossover event between Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest will feature new, nostalgic redesigns of longtime characters like Bulma, Krillin, Master Roshi and more.
On March 12, 2025, the Dragon Ball franchise will collaborate with the Dragon Quest series in the popular mobile video game Dragon Quest Walk. This limited-time event includes cosmetics and move sets inspired by the original Dragon Ball anime series, such as Kid Goku’s Power Pole and the Kamehameha Wave. Goku and his friends are also given updated designs based on their appearances in the late 1980s.

Official Dragon Ball x Dragon Quest Crossover Reveals New Designs for Fan-Favorite Characters
According to Kami Sama Explorer, one of the new features in the Dragon Quest Walk event is the “Son Goku Equipment Fukubiki.” It includes Goku’s signature five-star weapon, the “Nyoibo,” or “Power Pole.” Players will be able to use two of Goku’s powerful moves: the “Nobiro Nyoibo” (“Grow, Magic Staff”) and “Kamehameha.” Given the original Dragon Ball timeline, Goku’s Kamehameha Wave won’t have the same impact as the one seen in the explosive finale of Dragon Ball Daima. Nonetheless, it will be a powerful tool for Dragon Quest players.
The mobile event will allow Dragon Quest Walk players to explore the game world as Kid Goku, searching for the seven Dragon Balls with Bulma’s Dragon Radar. Goku can be leveled up during the player’s adventure and assist in battle during their real-life walkabout. However, players can also use Goku’s Flying Nimbus to traverse the game map without walking in real life. Collecting all seven Dragon Balls will allow the player to summon the Eternal Dragon and earn special rewards through their wish.
“Son Goku Mode” will feature fan-favorite characters as they were depicted in Goku’s childhood, such as Bulma, Chi-Chi, Yamcha, Krillin and Master Roshi. Character-themed missions and challenging boss fights will also be available in this crossover mode. Players who complete these missions can earn unique costumes based on Dragon Ball characters, like Chi-Chi’s armor and Master Roshi’s hermit clothing.
