As a travel journalist, I’ve been lucky to visit some of the most stunning places around the globe. And whenever anyone asks what my favorite destination is, I never hesitate: Patagonia. All through the region, especially in Torres del Paine National Park, the natural greens felt more verdant and the blues felt more calming, as if Mother Nature cranked up the saturation of the colors there.

The Chilean family-run hotel Las Torres Patagonia understands how valuable it is to retain the inherent beauty of its surroundings, so it’s bringing back its social-media campaign 10 Volunteers for 10 Days. This campaign brings North American volunteers dedicated to preserving the area’s natural beauty down to Patagonia on an all-expenses-paid trip.

During its inaugural trip in 2024, the volunteers, who were chosen from more than 500 entries, were divided into two groups. Each stayed at the property for five days as they worked on a mission to restore more than 1,570 feet of the Base Torres trail, an essential pathway for both the area’s ecosystem and visitors. Altogether, the travelers documented their adventures for more than 10.8 million people across all social platforms, sharing the importance of taking care of the environment on their life-changing journey.

This year, the volunteers will continue working on sections of the Base Torres trail, as well as take part in conservation workshops and cultural experiences. One group will visit from April 7 to 12 and the other from April 15 to April 20. Along the way, they’ll explore a mix of trekking circuits, including parts of the renowned W and O routes.

La Torres Patagonia is accepting entries from those ages 21 and older via Instagram through midnight PT on Feb. 19. To enter, applicants should post a video of 45 seconds or less showing what sustainability and ecotourism mean to them, and tagging @lastorres.patagonia and #PatagoniaVoluntourism2025.

The hotel will announce the winners on Instagram, as well as let them know via email. The 10 chosen will then have until Feb. 25 to confirm their participation. The hotel will take care of roundtrip airfare, accommodations, and meals during the period, noting that all winners need to bring is “their passion for nature and adventure.”

“Adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers flock here to marvel at the famous Cuernos del Paine, towering peaks, and vibrant blue icebergs,” the property said on its site. “The voluntourism initiative aims to repair and rebuild heavily eroded trails, ushering in a new era of sustainable, gentle-grade pathways that will safeguard the park’s delicate ecosystem.”
