A new Karate Kid: Legends trailer is on the way. Sony has debuted three new character posters for the sixth The Karate Kid movie ahead of the release of the second trailer tomorrow.
Shared on X, the new posters spotlight Karate Kid: Legends‘ three main characters: Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han, Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso, and Ben Wang’s Li Fong. Each character receives a different, yet fitting title on their poster. Han gets “Shifu,” which means master or teacher in Chinese; Daniel gets “Sensei,” which means teacher or instructor in Japanese martial arts; and Li gets “Student,” as he will be trained by Han and Daniel in the new movie. Check out the trio of character posters for Karate Kid: Legends below.

The Karate Kid Trilogy Crane Kicks a New Streaming Home in April
The Karate Kid fan can revisit Daniel LaRusso’s pre-Cobra Kai days when the film trilogy lands on a new streaming home next month.
“In Karate Kid: Legends, after a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother. Li struggles to let go of his past as he tries to fit in with his new classmates, and although he doesn’t want to fight, trouble seems to find him everywhere. When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough. Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) enlists original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for help, and Li learns a new way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown,” reads the official synopsis for the martial arts movie.
When Sony first announced the new Karate Kid movie back in 2022, most fans assumed that the sixth installment in the beloved martial arts series would feature the cast and crew behind the wildly popular Netflix series Cobra Kai, which is set 34 years after the events of the original Karate Kid film. However, Cobra Kai‘s creators were not involved with Karate Kid: Legends in any official capacity, although the movie’s director Jonathan Entwistle confirmed last year that he “had some really detailed conversations with the Cobra Kai team about just cool stuff that we can do in the movie and can make this whole thing feel holistic.” He added, “We’re really excited that we’ve added another piece to the overall universe.”

Sony debuts the official trailer for Karate Kid: Legends, an upcoming sequel to both Cobra Kai and the 2010 reboot starring Jackie Chan.
Karate Kid: Legends Adds the 2010 Remake to the Miyagiverse
The Cobra Kai creators were the ones to come up with the term “Miyagiverse,” which is used to refer to any project in The Karate Kid franchise that features Pat Morita’s Mr. Miyagi. While the 2010 remake starring Chan and Jaden Smith was believed to be set in its own universe, Legends will retroactively establish the movie as taking place in the Miyagiverse, despite the absence of Mr. Miyagi.
“Without giving too much away, I can say that Mr. Han and Mr. Miyagi are the connection to Daniel. The Han family and the Miyagi family are connected all the way back to the old times. And there is a mention of this within the Karate Kid movie canon for those people who want to go looking for it,” Entwistle teased in December 2024.
Karate Kid: Legends hits theaters on May 30.
