The Maharashtra School Education Department has begun the Right to Education (RTE) admission process for 2025-26. Interested and eligible students and their parents can submit their applications through the official website at student.maharashtra.gov.in. The last date to apply is January 27, 2025.
Under the Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009, private schools provide free education to students from Classes 1 to 8. As many as 25 per cent of seats in pre-primary classes at private schools are reserved for children from marginalised and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Applicants are allowed to choose up to 10 preferred schools in the application forms.
Students should fall within the designated age group for pre-primary classes, generally ranging from 3 to 6 years old. The child’s family must belong to economically weaker sections or other disadvantaged categories, ensuring equal access to education for underprivileged groups. Children from families with an annual household income below Rs 1 lakh are eligible to apply under the EWS category.
To apply, parents need to upload the child’s date of birth certificate, and their income details along with the application form.
Steps To Apply For Maharashtra RTE Admissions 2025:
Step 1: Visit the official website at student.maharashtra.gov.in.
Step 2: Download and carefully review the comprehensive schedule and guidelines provided.
Step 3: Navigate to the login section and fill out the registration form with the necessary details, including district, area, full name, contact number, date of birth, class, category, and certificate number.
Step 4: Upload all required documents in the specified formats and sizes as per the instructions.
Step 5: Enter the five-digit verification code shown on the screen and verify all the information entered.
Step 6: Click on the ‘Register’ button to finalize and complete your registration process.
Step 7: Take a screenshot or printout for future reference.
As per the official website, schools having more vacancies and less number of applications will allot the seats to all applicants. Schools having fewer vacancies will use a lottery system. The lottery will be drawn and generated by the district administration, that is, the Education officer, Primary for the district. The list, once published, will be made available under the application login for parents. Then, the parents will have to download the admit card from the portal and approach the schools to complete the admission process.
