More familiar faces are returning to Malcolm in the Middle.
Disney+’s revival of the hit Fox sitcom will see Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield reprise their respective roles as Francis and Reese, the older brothers of Frankie Muniz‘s Malcolm, Entertainment Weekly has learned.
They join the previously announced Muniz and his on-screen parents, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, in their return to the series, which will consist of four episodes.
However, one key player won’t be returning to the show: Erik Per Sullivan, who played the family’s youngest brother, Dewey. Sullivan has not appeared on screen since 2010’s Twelve, and will not be coming out of retirement to revisit his most iconic character. Instead, Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, who has appeared in small parts on shows like Fargo and The Expanse, will take over the role.

Additionally, Jamie, who was the family’s youngest child who was introduced in season 4, will be played by Anthony Timpano (Riverdale). Jamie was previously played by James and Lukas Rodriguez on the series’ original run.

The Malcolm revival will also bring three new family members into the fold. Vaughan Murrae (Before I Change My Mind) will play Kelly, the family’s new youngest child who is described in a press release as “self-sufficient, gets good grades and already wiser than most of the family.” Meanwhile, Keeley Karsten (The Fabelmans) is set to play Malcolm’s daughter, Leah, who “has the same sarcastic humor, same impulsiveness and the same frighteningly high intelligence” as her dad, but “far more sensitive and emotional.” And the show’s initial casting announcement revealed that Kiana Madeira (Fear Street) will play Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend.
The original Malcolm in the Middle, which followed the misadventures of Malcom’s chaotic middle-class family, ran for seven seasons on Fox from 2000 to 2006. The four-episode revival will see Malcolm and Leah reunite with the rest of the family as the protagonist’s parents celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. The revival’s premiere date has yet to be announced.
