Marvel Rivals: Best DPS Characters, Ranked
Damage per second is important for creating a good team in Marvel Rivals, with characters such as Wolverine and The Punisher providing such damage.
Besides their various abilities, each character also has a unique amount of health that improves their chances of survival. For players looking for a character in Marvel Rivals that is likely to live, these are the characters with the most health, ranked. It should be noted that although there are characters with less base health that gain health from their ultimates, these characters are ranked by their base health with ultimates being mentioned somewhat.
Updated March 4, 2025 by Megan Smith: Characters in Marvel Rivals come in all sorts of shapes and sizes with plenty more heroes and villains being added with each season. As players enter Season 1.5, the remaining two members of The Fantastic Four have finally been added to the game to allow players to expand their roster of characters as well as face off against them on a brand-new map.
Some of these Marvel Rivals characters, like The Thing, have also made their way onto the list of characters with the most health and therefore the number of characters with the best survivability continues with some of these options being altered through buffs and nerfs to the game.
17
Invisible Woman
A Strategist With Incredible Survivability
- Health: 275
- Role: Strategist
The new heroes that were added with season one of Marvel Rivals have already shown great promise, with them being some of the characters with the most health. While the Invisible Woman may not have any abilities that increase her health further than 275, due to her being able to go invisible, Sue Storm is able to passively heal and stay out of the way of danger.
She is already showing herself to be one of the best strategists available for players, dealing with not only a decent amount of healing, but damage to make her a brilliant pick. Not to mention that her ultimate also makes her and the team almost unkillable due to the constant healing it does when within it.
16
Winter Soldier
- Health: 275
- Role: Duelist
There are a variety of duelists for players to choose from in Marvel Rivals, with many of them having a decent amount of health. The Winter Soldier may not be one of the Duelists that has the most health out of all the available options, but his ultimate of Kraken Impact can increase his health through shields.
Since this ultimate puts the Winter Soldier up and close to his opponents, each successful kill with his armed and dangerous fist will increase his health by 50. Since the Winter Soldier can do this repeatedly, each kill can then increase this temporary health further.
15
Mantis
Her Ultimate Increases Her Health Further
- Health: 275 (525 from Soul Resurgence)
- Role: Strategist
While the majority of the strategists in Marvel Rivals have the least amount of health, there are some characters in this role that even have more health than some DPS characters available. Mantis is a great example of this, as she has a base health level of 275, which gives her a better chance of survival as long as she sticks with her team.

Marvel Rivals: Counters To The Thing
Hero counters to Marvel Rivals’ The Thing need movement-disabling and evasion abilities, and only some do it best.
This empathetic character from the Guardians of the Galaxy can increase her health further when using the ultimate Soul Resurgence, as the combination of shields while using this ultimate increases her health to 525 to allow her to heal those around her while not being picked off quickly.
14
Luna Snow
The Strategist With The Most Health
- Health: 275 (525 from Fate of Both Worlds)
- Role: Strategist
Luna Snow is another strategist character in Marvel Rivals with a decent amount of base health that players who are looking to play a strategist that will likely survive longer than others should play.
This K-pop artist with snow powers is very similar to Mantis, as she can also gain more health from using her ultimate. Fate of Both Worlds not only speeds up or heals the player’s teammates but also boosts Luna’s health through shields to allow her to survive for even longer when using her ultimate.
13
Black Panther
Plenty Of Health To Be Close And Personal
- Health: 300
- Role: Duelist
There are quite a few melee-based duelist characters in Marvel Rivals, with Black Panther being another DPS option for players who want a character with plenty of health while also dealing a decent amount of damage. Black Panther and Wolverine work in similar ways, as they need to be up close and personal with their target if they hope to deal any damage.
The King of Wakanda also has a total of 300 health, with his ultimate doing nothing to change this. However, since T’Challa has so much health to begin with, players who decide to take this option should hopefully stay alive a lot longer, especially when picking off enemies that stray too far from their team.
12
Iron Fist
A Dive With A Descent Amount Of Health
- Health: 300
- Role: Duelist
Continuing with dive characters, Black Panther isn’t the only great Duelist option. Iron Fist is another aggressive choice for players that enjoy pressuring healers on the opposing team and breaking up formations.

Marvel Rivals: The Best Defensive Abilities
When it comes to defensive abilities in Marvel Rivals, it’s hard to go wrong with the following options.
With 300 health to survive with, Iron Fist happily stands in front of various enemies with little risk, especially as he can also block various attacks to gain some shield. Iron Fist also doesn’t need to rely on his own healers too much, as he can meditate to gain back his 300 health as long as he isn’t being shot at.
11
Wolverine
One Of The Duelists With The Most Base Health
- Health: 350
- Role: Duelist
Season one saw Wolverine’s health being boosted greater than both Mantis and Luna Snow. This incredible member of the X-Men still has more base health, which is greatly needed by this Duelist. Wolverine is required to lunge at his enemies to deal damage up close, with his rage making his claws hit even harder.
Since he risks his life so much to deal this damage, it is easy to see how Wolverine has the highest base health out of the Duelists available, though it is a surprise to see that his ultimate doesn’t boost this further. However, by reaching maximum rage, the player will gain passive healing, which can even grant him shields, boosting this health further.
10
Mister Fantastic
A DPS That Could Be A Tank
- Health: 350
- Role: Duelist
Mister Fantastic is another hero that was added during season one of Marvel Rivals and has become a favorite pick for many Duelist players, or Vanguard that wish to deal some extra damage. As the leader of The Fantastic Four, Mister Fantastic has enough health to fight alongside his team with little-to-no worries.
Like Wolverine, Mister Fantastic is able to gain a shield on top of his already high health for a Duelist as long as he is hitting enemies with his long arms. With enough hits, he enters an inflated state that allows him to deal more damage and keeps him protected. Pairing with an Invisible Woman also allows him to tap into her abilities for another shield.
9
Doctor Strange
Another Vanguard With Shields To Protect His Health
- Health: 600
- Role: Vanguard
Vanguards with shields continue to be some of the best characters in Marvel Rivals with the most health available to them. Doctor Strange is a surprising choice to see as a Vanguard, but this Sorcerer Supreme conjures up a shield to prevent himself and his allies from being attacked.

Marvel Rivals: Counters To Human Torch
The best Marvel Rivals’ Human Torch counters have great mobility and damage, allowing for rapid takedown of the Fantastic Four Duelist.
This magical shield is incredibly strong as it can take plenty of hits from the opponents that wish to take down Doctor Strange and his team, which therefore makes this shield feel like additional health to him, as the player can keep it up for so long.
8
Thor
The Vanguard With The Lowest Health
- Health: 625
- Role: Vanguard
Unsurprisingly, the vanguard characters that are deemed to be the tanks of Marvel Rivals are the characters with the most base health. This allows them to take plenty of hits for the team, drawing fire at themselves while duelists deal the majority of the damage.
Thor may have the least health out of the current available Vanguards in Marvel Rivals, but by having 625 hit points to play with, Thor isn’t going to die as quickly as others. Thankfully, Thor’s health isn’t stuck here, as abilities such as Awakening Rune push Thor’s health up to 825 to allow him to stay in the fray for longer.
7
Magneto
Lots Of Health And Shields To Protect It
- Health: 650
- Role: Vanguard
With 50 extra health than Thor, Magneto is another great option for players who are looking to play a character with a lot of health. Alongside having plenty of health to play with, Magneto is also a character that has plenty of shields available to him.
Magneto first has his rectangular shield that he can hold out in front of him to prevent both himself and those behind him from being hit, allowing him to keep his precious 650 health. Besides this, Magneto can also create a bubble shield on either an ally or himself to allow him to attack while also limiting the damage he takes.
6
Peni Parker
Standing Within Her Web Increases Her Health
- Health: 650 (1225 from Spider Sweeper)
- Role: Vanguard
As the final Vanguard character to have a total of 650 base health, Peni Parker, like Captain America, increases this base amount of health through her ultimate, Spider Sweeper. Once activated, the player will be able to rapidly fire mines and webs while also having a significant amount of shield that boosts the player’s health all the way up to 1225.

Shoot enemies at a safe distance to pick them off one by one with this incredible selection of Poke characters in Marvel Rivals.
While it is still possible for the player to die in this form, it would require the opposing team to heavily focus on melting Peni Parker. Peni also gains a small amount of shield outside of her ultimate through her web ability, as standing on it allows her to not only be passively healed but also a small amount of shield.
5
Captain America
Freedom Charge Boosts The Survivability Of Him And The Whole Team
- Health: 675 (925 from Freedom Charge)
- Role: Vanguard
A common amount of health for the majority of the Vanguard characters in Marvel Rivals is 650. Captain America arguably has the weakest shield out of the Vanguard characters that carry them, though this patriotic hero makes up for this with his Freedom Charge ultimate.
When using his power, Captain America’s health goes from 650 to 900 so that he can lead a charge into the enemy without the risk of dying too quickly. This blessing of freedom isn’t just kept to himself, as he also shields all allies surrounding him for a greater advantage against the enemy.
4
The Thing
An Unstoppable Boulder Of A Tank
- Health: 700 (900 from Yancy Street Charge)
- Role: Vanguard
With the rest of The Fantastic Four added to Season 1.5 of Marvel Rivals, those that enjoy playing Vanguard have a new tank to experiment with. The Thing has a lot of potential with players still getting the hang of him. Thankfully, his large pool of health allows for some mistakes.
If 700 wasn’t already enough health for players, when using his Yancy Street Charge ability, players can easily run into enemies, knocking them out of the way. Players may assume that while charging they would become an easy target, but thankfully when using this ability, The Thing’s health is increased to 900.
3
Hero Hulk
Bruce May Be Weak, But Hulk Is Unstoppable
- Health: 200 (Bruce Banner) 750 (Hero Hulk) 1500 (Monster Hulk)
- Role: Vanguard
Players who decide to play the Vanguard character of Hulk are in for an interesting time, as they have two different health bars to pay attention to. While Hero Hulk – the main character players will want to stay as – has 8750 health, if players are to lose all their health, instead of dying, the player becomes the scrawny scientist Bruce Banner.

Marvel Rivals: Best Combos With Human Torch
For the heroes who want the best possible synergy with the Human Torch in Marvel Rivals, these heroes should provide the best combos and team-ups.
When playing Bruce, the player only has 200 health. This quickly disintegrates if players find themselves losing all their health while still in danger, though it is possible to escape. If players remain as Hero Hulk, their ultimate will give them even more health as Monster Hulk rampages with a total of 1500 health, making him near impossible to defeat, though players cannot remain this way.
2
Venom
A Large Base Health With No Need For More
- Health: 800
- Role: Vanguard
The bigger the character, the more health they have as seen with the symbiote Venom. This vanguard doesn’t have any ultimate that increases his health, but does have an incredibly boosted base amount of health, with Venom settling for 800.
If this health wasn’t already enough for players, Venom is also able to shield himself from some of the damage he takes using the symbiotic resilience ability. Venom’s health is therefore increased to 900 through these shields. Therefore, a player that has chosen Venom can get in the faces of his enemies and attack with fewer worries, as long as they don’t bite off more than they can chew.
1
Groot
An Incredible Base Amount Of Health
- Health: 850
- Role: Vanguard
Out of all the available characters in Marvel Rivals, the character with the most health is Groot. This ginormous tree, who happily sees himself in the Vanguard role in Marvel Rivals, has the most base health out of the characters in the game and for good reason.
Not only can Groot create walls to block the attacks of others with no other way of shielding himself, Groot can even have Jeff the Land Shark or Rocket Raccoon – two of the characters with the least amount of health – ride on his back to give them added protection while they keep him alive.
