MANILA, Philippines – Power distributor giant Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) assured its customers on Monday that it is “ready” to deliver stable electricity during the summer months, when power consumption is expected to peak.
In a statement, the company said it was closely working with the government and industry players to ensure a reliable power supply.
“[This is] to meet the higher demand we anticipate in the coming months, which coincides with the country’s midterm elections,” Meralco vice president and head of Corporate Communications Joe Zaldarriaga said.
Some of the efforts Meralco has deployed so far include maintenance and upgrading activities of its distribution network and facilities.
The Pangilinan-led firm is the biggest power distributor in the Philippines, with its franchise area covering Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and select areas in Pampanga, Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon.
