Michelle Yeoh has caught wind of a mother’s viral request to borrow the Armani Privé dress she wore to the 2025 SAG Awards for her daughter’s upcoming nuptials.
A mom by the name of Tracy went viral on TikTok after her daughter Amity, the bride to be, shared that she had informed her that she privately messaged a celebrity she saw on television to ask if she could borrow one of her dresses for her daughter’s wedding. “That’s literally Michelle Yeoh,” Amity captioned the clip of her mother holding a photo of Yeoh at the SAG Awards last month.
Yeoh herself has since responded, writing on Instagram Story that she was “so flattered” that the “fabulous and fearless” Tracy loved her dress, a sleeveless floor-length dressed adorned with florals perfect for spring.

But she confirmed that the Armani Privé gown is “sadly not in my closet,” as celebrities often do not own but rather rent or also borrow the designer clothes and accessories they wear at big events. The Academy Award winner wished the bride and her future spouse “the most beautiful, magical wedding” and called Tracy the “perfect mother of the bride.”
Speaking with PEOPLE, Amity said she had to explain to her mother that the star likely did not own the dress. She also called Yeoh’s response a “fever dream” — and invited the star to her wedding. “Michelle, thank you for the response and kind wishes,” Amity said. “You’re invited to our wedding, no worries about the dress.”

Yeoh attended this year’s SAG Awards to celebrate the five nominations that Wicked picked up, including nods for stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. The Crazy Rich Asians alum played Madame Morrible in the first part of Jon M. Chu‘s film adaptation of the Wizard of Oz prequel. The highly-anticipated part two, titled Wicked: For Good, flies into theaters Nov. 21, and continues the story of Erivo’s Elphaba being declared enemy of the state by the fraudulent Wizard (played by Jeff Goldblum) and Madame Morrible.
Yeoh previously called joining the film adaptation a “risk,” considering that it was her first musical. “But you will never know which doors will open for you unless you try them all,” she said.
