T Bar M Camps & Retreats in New Braunfels is planning a significant expansion that could reshape its operations and guest accommodations.

The facility, which currently spans 60 acres, is looking to add 20 more acres to support new infrastructure, including a dining hall, maintenance barn, family cabins, various amenities, and a welcome center.

The multi-phase expansion, estimated to cost $50 million, is being designed by Assemble + Co. with Schumann Consulting managing the project, according to a report by Connect CRE.

The expansion is set to be completed in four phases, with the first two being developed simultaneously.

Phase 1 includes a recirculating creek and pond, while Phase 2 will introduce a 6,450-square-foot teen center and two large family cabins, each spanning 18,150 square feet and featuring 16 rooms.

Phase 3 will see the construction of a 26,540-square-foot welcome center, which will be accessible to the public.

For the outdoor hospitality industry, this development underscores the growing demand for expanded facilities catering to families and large groups.

T Bar M’s investment reflects a broader trend of campgrounds and retreat centers enhancing their infrastructure to accommodate evolving guest expectations.

Industry professionals may take note of how these upgrades align with increasing consumer interest in multi-generational travel, immersive nature experiences, and purpose-driven retreats.

T Bar M, which began in 1981, has steadily grown its offerings while maintaining its core mission.

“Looking back over forty years, T Bar M has grown from a small beginning to hiring more than 400 committed summer staff to serve its growing list of campers,” the organization stated on its website.

The expansion is expected to further support its ability to host approximately 9,000 campers and 10,000 guests annually.

Even with significant growth, T Bar M remains focused on its foundational values. “Even as we’ve grown, one thing hasn’t changed—our solid commitment to our mission,” the organization noted.

With this expansion, the camp is positioning itself to better serve its existing community while preparing for future growth in an industry where guest experience and facility enhancements are becoming increasingly vital.
