Herding Hill Farm Camping and Glamping Site in Northumberland has introduced a mobile app aimed at improving guest access to essential site information and local attractions.

Developed in collaboration with technology firm Holidaymaker, the app provides visitors with details on accommodations, amenities, and nearby experiences while also offering features that support trip planning and customer engagement.

The initiative is part of a broader trend in the outdoor hospitality industry, where operators are leveraging digital tools to enhance customer service and streamline operations.

The app allows guests to manage bookings, explore nearby activities, receive real-time updates on site conditions, and even access exclusive offers. Additionally, it facilitates direct re-booking with a loyalty discount, a feature that could help drive repeat visits.

Sue Humphreys, who manages the five-star AA Platinum Pennant site alongside her husband Phil, emphasized the app’s role in enhancing the overall guest experience.

“Our guests are what make the success of our campsites, and we’re always looking at ways to improve the on-site experience to make their stays even better than before,” she said in a report by Hexham Courant.

For outdoor hospitality business owners, digital integration like this app represents an opportunity to improve guest engagement while also reducing administrative burden.

By offering self-service options such as interactive maps, itinerary planning, and pop-up notifications about local conditions or on-site services, properties can provide a more seamless experience while freeing up staff for other operational tasks.

David Lakins, CEO of Holidaymaker, highlighted the app’s growing adoption and its impact on both guests and staff.

“The app is already seeing an impressive number of downloads, enabling guests to better self-serve and fully explore the stunning surroundings,” he said.

As technology continues to reshape the outdoor hospitality industry, tools like the Herding Hill Farm app demonstrate how operators can use digital solutions to drive customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. With mobile platforms becoming an increasingly popular touchpoint for travelers, campgrounds and glamping businesses that invest in these tools may gain a competitive edge in a growing market.
