As the busy summer travel season approaches, travelers have a new way to save time.
TSA PreCheck, a security program established by the Transportation Security Administration, helps travelers zip through security lines with ease. Members are entitled to a special screening line, and don’t have to remove their shoes or laptops from their bag, providing a time-saving shortcut in airport security lines. With more than 20 million members, the program has become a popular subscription for travelers.
For those looking to become members, but have previously been unable to find the time to schedule the appointment, several pop-ups in New York City this spring can provide the opportunity.
The TSA’s authorized enrollment provider Telos Corporation will host two inaugural enrollment events at the concourse of Rockefeller Center, and inside the MetLife Building near Grand Central Station from March 25, 2025 through March 29, 2025. The locations are also office locations of the passport and visa expediter ItsEasy, which has partnered with Telos on the events.
The event hours will be from 7:30 a.m-5:30 p.m. on March 25 and March 28, and 9:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. on March 26 and March 27. The March 29 event will run from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 .p.m.
The specific locations are the MetLife Building Lobby, 200 Park Ave., New York, NY 10166 and 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Floor 1, New York, NY 10112, on the Concourse Level.
Travelers will need appointments at both locations and can find availability on the TSA’s website and select whichever pop-up location they prefer. The TSA PreCheck membership spans five years and has a starting cost of $85.
The process for the pop-up appointments includes capturing a photo and fingerprints, validating the traveler’s identity, and collecting payment. A spokesperson for the pop-ups shared that most travelers will receive their new TSA eligibility within three to five days.
For travelers outside of the New York City area, or those unavailable to make a stop at the pop-ups, there are hundreds of other in-person TSA-authorized enrollment centers that provide access to the service.
Travelers can visit the official TSA PreCheck Enrollment Centers website and search their zip code or city to find a location near them. Locations can include Staples and Office Depot stores, which are also managed by third-party companies such as Telos, Idemia, and CLEAR.
Many major airports also have opportunities to enroll in TSA PreCheck, including Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and New York-John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
A number of credit cards and airline loyalty frequent flyer programs give TSA PreCheck as a courtesy benefit to customers. The TSA provides an online listing of credit cards that offer the perk including cards from American Express, and Chase. The participating loyalty programs include IHG One Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy, and United Mileage Plus.
