Percy Jackson and the Olympians is returning for another adventure.

The fantasy show has been renewed for a third season based on The Titan’s Curse, the third book in Rick Riordan‘s series of young-adult novels, Disney announced Friday.

The studio also revealed that the show’s second season, based on The Sea of Monsters, will premiere on Disney+ in December, almost exactly two years after its first season debuted in 2023.

Riordan confirmed that some of the book series’ most beloved characters will debut in season 3. “We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time,” the author said in a statement. “It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!”

Percy Jackson season 3 will be the show’s first swing at previously unadapted material, as Riordan’s first two books — The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters — were adapted into feature films starring Logan Lerman in 2010 and 2013.

Season 2 recently wrapped filming in Vancouver. Before production began, cast members Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson) and Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase) teased the new season in an interview with Entertainment Weekly at San Diego Comic-Con.

“It feels older. It feels comfortable, but different,” Scobell said. “We’ve gotten so much of that expository stuff out of the way we have so much more room to play and work with our characters a little more freely.”

Jeffries agreed. “It feels more mature,” she said. “It’s definitely hyped up some.”

At the show’s SDCC panel, the Percy Jackson team revealed that Daniel Diemer (The Half of It, Absolution) will portray Tyson, Percy’s hulking cyclops half-brother who accompanies the young demigods on their quest for the Golden Fleece. Aryan Simhadri (Grover), Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse), and Charlie Bushnell (Luke) are all set to return in the second season.

Season 1 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is streaming on Disney+.
