March’s PlayStation Plus game catalog is here, and it’s sure to make fans of the mecha genre very happy. With a good helping of sports, arcade and adventure games, some of these titles stand out against the rest. Fans of the mecha genre will surely be pleased with this month’s PlayStation Plus Catalog, as four great titles are being offered.

FromSoftware’s Armored Core franchise has grown in popularity since the release of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon in 2023. Its unique brand of highly technical, fast-paced combat that relied on how players specced their mech was something sorely missed in the industry. And with its newfound fanbase, it’s only right that some feel hankering to return to the series’ unforgiving roots.

Another Great Month of Games

PlayStation Premium will add the original Armored Core, Armored Core Project Phantasma and Armored Core: Master of Arena to its library. While FromSoftware games are known for being unforgiving, these titles are particularly so, made worse because difficulty was always a bit higher during this era.

They are, however, great games to try out, and if you are looking for a challenge, you will undoubtedly be met by one. Armored Core was originally released in 1997 and was soon followed up by Project Phantasma, which was, in all honesty, more of an expansion pack than a sequel. Master of Arena, released two years later, emphasizes the arena-based combat introduced in Project Phantasma.

  • Armored Core
  • Armored Core: Project Phantasma
  • Armored Core: Master of Arena
  • Arcade Paradise VR

Elsewhere, Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation Code Fairy will be available, providing a less brutalist take on the mecha genre, putting a more lighthearted emphasis on the relationships you create with your fellow Mobile Suit pilots. The game is set in the Universal Century Timeline and will see players battle the Principality of Zeon during the One-Year War. Another anime on offer is Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, an arcade soccer game that features a surprisingly fleshed-out story. Create your dream team and play out scenarios straight from the anime.

This Controversial BioWare Title is Headlining March’s PS Plus Lineup

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is headlining March’s PS Plus lineup less than 5 months after its release.

  • UFC 5
  • Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
  • Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions
  • Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation Code Fairy
  • Arcade Paradise
  • You Suck at Parking
  • Syberia – The World Before

Following the sports theme, UFC 5 makes its way to the service, featuring popular MMA fighters such as Valentina Shevchenko and Jon Jones. A great addition is the Metroidvania Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Fans had been clamoring for a new Prince of Persia entry for years, but The Lost Crown failed to find an audience upon release. Still, it is, without a doubt, a great game and sits with a score of 87 on Metacritic. It is a game that failed by the metrics of sales expectations, but it exceeded in all other arenas.

The long-running point-and-click series, Syberia – The World Before will be available, giving players a chance to do some mental gymnastics and immerse themselves in a steampunk world. Lastly, indie arcade games Bang-On Balls: Chronicles, You Suck at Parking and Arcade Paradise VR will be available for those short bursts of fun. All Games will be available from March 18.
