February’s Community Day has been announced, bringing new Pokémon to the spotlight in Pokémon GO. Community Day is meant to bring Pokémon trainers together, both in-person and in-game. It features plenty of challenges and rewards, especially if players are willing to shell out a bit of money.

Yes, the Special Research tickets are still $1.99 this time despite negative player feedback at the price doubling back in January for Sprigattito’s Community Day.

Karrablast and Shelmet Are Highlighted This Month

Community Day will be Feb. 9, 2025, from 2 PM to 5 PM local time. During this time, Karrablast and Shelmet will appear more frequently in the wild, even Shiny ones. With Karrablast being one of the highlighted Pokémon, it has a featured attack that can be learned if it evolves into Escavalier from the event to February 16: Charged Attack Razor Shell. Evolving Shelmet into Accelgor will get Charged Attack Energy Ball.

Special Research is $2, as previously noted. Paying this amount will grant trainers access to Karrablast and Shelmet-exclusive Special Research. Completing this research will earn players two encounters with Karrablast and Shelmet with Dual Destiny-themed Special Backgrounds, a Premium Battle Pass and a Rare Candy XL.

Special Background Timed Research is available to anyone who logs in during Community Day. This is another chance at an encounter with each Pokémon with Dual Destiny-themed Special Backgrounds. Players will also have an increased chance to encounter Shinies when Timed Research tasks are completed. Field Research will give trainers Stardust and Great Balls when they catch Karrablast and Shelmet.

Here are the bonuses trainers can earn while playing during Community Day hours:

  • 3× XP for catching Pokémon
  • 2× Candy for catching Pokémon
  • 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokémon
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours
  • Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours
  • Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise
  • One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of two for the day
  • Trades will require 50% less Stardust
