Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddi Mellencamp has revealed that she’s been diagnosed with brain tumors, following a spate of “severe and debilitating headaches.”
“Yesterday the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization,” she wrote Wednesday on Instagram. “After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least 6 months.”
Mellencamp explained that two tumors would be removed Wednesday, while the rest will be treated later with radiation. “I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health,” she added.
A representative for Mellencamp declined to comment further.

The daughter of American musician John Mellencamp, Teddi appeared on The Real Housewives Beverly Hills for three seasons, between 2017 and 2020. There she befriended franchise star Kyle Richards, who was pictured at Mellencamp’s hospital bedside in an Instagram story Wednesday, along with the country singer Morgan Wade, Mellencamp’s former partner Edwin Arroyave, and several others.
“Can I have your old extensions, Ted?” Richards cheekily asked in the video, keeping the mood light with a joke about Mellencamp needing to shave her head for the emergency operation. She joked back, “No I already gave those out, sorry.”

Mellencamp recently reshared an image of a large scar on her back in commemoration of World Cancer Day, urging fans in the caption to “get your skin checks scheduled.” The RHOBH star explained on a Feb. 2 episode of The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast that the scar is the result of “over 20 surgeries” spanning several years spent removing 17 different spots of melanoma from a patch on her back.
She has been open about her experience treating the condition on social media, and continued in that vein today, inviting fans into her hospital room moments before the operation.
One other story posted to her page Wednesday showed a friend shaving Mellencamp’s head. “Did not have this look on my bucket list. My best look!” she said brightly. Mellencamp posted a selfie in a somber pose on another story with a caption that read in part, “Counting down the minutes until my babies get here.”
Mellencamp shares three children with Arroyave: Slate, 12; Cruz, 10; and Dove, 4. The couple had been married for 13 years when Mellencamp announced in November that they were filing for divorce. She wrote in a selfie caption Wednesday, “As my dad said this a.m., god only gives hard stuff to those of us who can handle it. It’s a hard day but I have faith and amazing surgeons and know everything will be okay.”
Mellencamp’s Bravo colleague and podcast cohost Tamra Judge, of The Real Housewives of Orange County, urged fans to “please keep [Teddi Mellencamp] in your prayers” on her own Instagram story Wednesday. “I love you my friend.”
Other Bravolebrities, from Real Housewives of Miami‘s Kiki Barth to Real Housewives of Orange County star Emily Simpson wished Mellencamp well in the comments on her recent post. Vanderpump Rules alum Stassi Schroeder summed up many fans sentiments with the comment “Oh Teddi, thinking of you. You’re so so so strong.”
