The RV Technical Institute (RVTI) recently conducted Level 1 training at Hemlock Hill RV Sales & Service in Southington, Connecticut.
Led by Bill Stewart, director of education at the institute, the training was attended by dealership staff as part of the institute’s Dealer On-Site Training initiative. This program allows dealerships to receive training at their location rather than sending technicians to the institute’s facility.
During the Level 1 training, technicians at Hemlock Hill RV learned about propane, electrical, plumbing, appliances, body, generator, and chassis systems. The hands-on course provided opportunities for dealership staff to gain practical knowledge and demonstrate their skills in these critical areas of RV maintenance.
According to a News and Insights report of RVIA on January 30, Hemlock Hill RV General Manager Chris Andro spoke positively about the training experience, commending the instructor for creating a welcoming learning environment.
“It was a great experience having Bill at our dealership this week and doing our training,” Andro said.
“Bill and our team immediately gelled, and the week was one to remember. Everyone in the class said Bill made them feel comfortable, smart, and engaged the whole time,” Andro added.
In addition to the instructor’s teaching style, Andro highlighted the dealership’s readiness to embrace learning opportunities.
“We had a puzzling scenario in the shop. Bill jumped right in to help solve the issue and he taught our tech something new,” Andro said. “You all have built a top-notch program and team.”
The Dealer On-Site Training initiative is one of the RV Technical Institute’s key programs aimed at improving the skills of dealership staff while reducing the need for technicians to travel. This allows businesses to integrate training directly into their operations, providing both convenience and effectiveness.
