While they’re able to take down the underlings without an issue, things become difficult when a man named Seba fights against them.
Seba has mysterious invisibility powers the likes of which Taro and Shin had never seen before. He can turn his entire body invisible. Although they tried to win the fight, Seba had the upper hand. He and his boss get away, taking Lu with them. Clearly, these aren’t the kinds of foes Taro has faced before. They’re more dangerous than ever.
Shin’s Backstory Is Briefly Brushed Over in Sakamoto Days Episode 7
Taro’s Clairvoyant Partner Was Raised in a Lab

Luckily, Shin still has an idea where these strange men may be going. Based on the knowledge he has, Shin can determine if they’re heading to a place called the Lab. This was where Shin was raised and honed his psychic powers. Although Shin was raised there, he was sure the place had changed a lot from his childhood.
This is quickly proven true when Taro and Shin realize assassins have taken over the Lab, forcing the scientists there to develop the latest technology to help Kashima’s assassination attempts. However, Shin makes it clear the lab wasn’t always like this. He had at least a somewhat happy childhood there. The scientists were kind to him and, even now, looked out for his safety, as well as Taro’s.
The Lab Is Threatened by Assassins
It’s Up to Taro and Shin to Reclaim the Lab
It’s impossible to deny that the Lab isn’t highly guarded. It is, with some dangerous technology to boot. When Shin is unable to enter the Lab using the old information he remembered, it awakens two life-sized bear models with guns in their mouth. When Shin and Sakamoto take those out, a T-Rex skeleton comes to life. With the gun in its mouth and its great might combined, Taro has his work cut out for him.
Adorably, Taro wanted to show his daughter Hana the skeleton, but quickly deems the efforts not worth the trouble and demolishes the living skeleton. With that done, the two can make their way into the lab. Anyone who crosses them is quickly taken down, but they’re just low-level underlings. More dangerous threats await in the Lab. However, Shin can’t help but be worried about the scientists who have been forced to work for three days with no rest.
Shin quickly dispatches the man threatening the scientists who raised him, but there’s only more danger to come. The scientists are filled with fear as they realize Mad Horiguchi is on his way. Desperate to keep the boy they raised and his friend safe, Taro and Shin are shoved into lockers and told to stay quietly hidden there. Shin doesn’t need to be a clairvoyant to realize just how frightened the scientists are.

Sakamoto Days has the most fun assassin characters in anime, with a new killer to meet in every episode.
Soon, the new threat arrives, looking even stranger than any the Sakamoto family has faced in the past. This man her dark glasses and lines etched into his face, but age doesn’t seem to hold him back. Various syringes are seen sticking out of the shoulders of Horiguchi’s labcoat. He’s cold and ruthless as he stabs a scientist’s hand with a pen without a second thought, knowing they’re lying.
Shin can’t bear to stay hidden much longer than that, not with the scientists in danger because of him. He lunges from his hiding spot and goes on the offensive. However, Horiguchi is faster and more dangerous than he realizes. Before Shin can stop him, the mad scientist uses a syringe to inject something into the back of Shin’s neck. This strange concoction forces Shin to speak backwards, but that’s only the first experiment Horiguchi wants to try.
Mad Horiguchi Is Less of a Threat Than He Seems
Sakamoto Can Easily Take Down Any Threat

Even with his clairvoyance, Shin is struggling to take on the mad doctor. His words are getting jumbled up, but he’s determined not to give up so easily, no matter what Mad Horiguchi throws at him next. However, before Shin is given the chance to step up and save the scientists, Taro is finally able to emerge from his locker. He had unfortunately gotten stuck prior because of his size, giving him a blocky head shape. Sakamoto ends the fight quickly after.
Despite how much Mad Horiguchi had been hyped up as a dangerous threat, he went down much the same as many of Sakamoto’s other enemies. A single, well-timed punch to the face was all it took to send this man flying. He may have been one of the scariest-looking threats the Sakamoto family faced thus far, but he went down just as easily as the others.

Sakamoto Days: 10 Anime Characters Just Like Taro Sakamoto
Sakamoto is unusual and memorable as a shonen anime protagonist, but he doesn’t stand alone in the medium.
With little fanfare, the first fight was done. The scientists were rescued for a time, but Lu was still held somewhere within the confines of the Lab, primed for experimentation. Fans are left feeling a little uncertain if Kashima’s group of assassins is really the threat they seem to be, after how easily Horiguchi went down. However, fans also need to remember the threat Seba posed to the Sakamoto family. Horiguchi was just an appetizer. The main course of excellent fights is about to be served.
If the men and women Taro and Shin face next are anything like Seba, they will likely have their work cut out for them. There’s no way to tell what strange powers and abilities they have in tow without reading the manga or waiting for the next episode. With bated breath, fans wait for the next episode of the Lab Arc to begin.
A new arc has begun in Sakamoto Days. After Lu was mistakenly taken in Shin’s place, the clairvoyant’s past rises from the ashes to relevancy once more. The lab is highly guarded and under the control of trained assassins. It won’t be easy to fight their way through everything and rescue Lu, but the Sakamoto family are willing to protect their own.
The first fight doesn’t live up to the hype. Before Mad Horiguchi can do anything more sinister, Taro Sakamoto ends the fight with a single punch. Sakamoto’s one punch fatality has fans worried that these hyped-up assassins may not be as dangerous as they seem.
However, if Taro and Shin’s battle with Seba is any sign, one fight isn’t enough to judge their true strength. This arc is just beginning, and more battles are on the way. Soon enough, fans will find out if the deer-headed Kashima’s men are really as deadly as they claim.
