Chappell Roan may have become a household name in 2024, but her breakout moment is far from over. The pop sensation begins the new year with her streaming television debut in a new Hulu docuseries created with the beauty retailer Sephora.

Called “Faces of Music,” the three-episode series directed by Ting Poo premieres on Jan. 22 and features Roan, R&B singer Victoria Monét and Latin music star Becky G. In each “get-ready-with-me”-style episode, the singers go through their glam routines while talking about their inspirations for beauty looks and other topics.

The premiere marks Sephora’s first series on Hulu after the beauty retailer has seen success with advertising on the streaming platform, said Zena Arnold, chief marketing officer for Sephora US.

“This is a different way of connecting that’s less about an ad and an immediate drive to purchase, and more about what we stand for and making sure people understand the cultural relevance that we have,” Arnold said.

Sephora created the show in collaboration with Hulu, production company Imagine Documentaries and entertainment studio Digitas Pictures, a subsidiary of the marketing firm Digitas. It’s one of the first projects to come out of Sephora’s one-year-old Marketing Partnerships team, which was created to find new, unique content formats and partnership opportunities outside of beauty such as music or sports.
