Summary
- Rebellion has addressed more player concerns with hotfix 1.06.
- Sniper Elite: Resistance offers eight hours of gameplay.
Rebellion Developments has release Update 1.06 for its third-person tactical shooter Sniper Elite: Resistance. The latest in a popular series that first launched in 2005, Sniper Elite: Resistance puts players in the role of Harry Hawker, an operative fighting alongside the French resistance in Vichy, France, during World War 2. The story takes place in parallel to the events of 2022’s Sniper Elite 5, giving fans of the franchise another perspective of these pivotal moments in the historic international conflict.
Despite the series’ iconic X-ray kill cam, the fictional Sniper Elite: Resistance attempts to bring a touch of realism to the gameplay experience. The game features authentic World War 2 weapons and advanced physics, but also offers customization options and a few multiplayer modes. Two people can run cooperatively through the campaign together, or up to 16 can battle it out competitively. Sniper Elite 5’s popular asymmetrical Invasion mode has made a return in Resistance, and players can test their skills with time-based challenges as well.

Few things hinder immersion into a game more than crashes, however, and developer Rebellion has released a hotfix to address several memory problems that were causing this issue in Sniper Elite: Resistance. The AI was also causing a crash, which has also been fixed, and some other nuisances like Propaganda medals not being marked as earned on the Sniper Elite: Resistance mission prep screen and a misaligned barrel on the M1918 have also been dealt with.
Though this update, Hotfix 1.06, is rather small, the developer has already released a couple of other patches since the game launched on January 30. The most recent and largest, Update 1.05 for Sniper Elite: Resistance, gave players three new, free multiplayer maps and also addressed a number of general and level-specific bugs. So far, Rebellion seems intent on promptly tackling any issues players encounter, so there will certainly be more patches to come.
Sniper Elite: Resistance has proven to be as well received as its predecessors in the series. It’s sitting at a 73 average critic rating on OpenCritic, though it currently has a Mixed user score on Steam. Many of the player complaints center around the relatively short playtime of Sniper Elite: Resistance, which clocks in at approximately eight hours with all side objectives.
Those unfamiliar with the Sniper Elite series who might be uncertain if they want to check it out might be pleased to know that Sniper Elite: Resistance launched day one on Xbox Game Pass. It is currently available to PC and Ultimate subscribers at no extra cost.
