South Cliff Holiday Park in Bridlington will host DadFest for the first time this May, bringing a family-focused outdoor experience to the region.
The two-day event, organized by The Dads Network CIC, is designed for fathers, father figures, and male carers to bond with their children through various activities.
Having been recognized as the Best Small Event in the UK by the National Outdoor Events Association, the festival aims to provide a safe and inclusive space for families to enjoy nature together.
Scheduled from May 16 to 18, DadFest features a diverse lineup of outdoor activities, including archery, storytelling, bat walks, music workshops, high ropes, and beach games, according to a report by Wolds Weekly.
The festival also offers a children’s disco, a woodland trail, stargazing, and a magic show. Attendees will have access to campsite amenities, including electric hook-ups and facility blocks, ensuring a comfortable experience for participants.
All activities and camping are included in the ticket price, encouraging families to engage in the full experience without additional costs.
One of the highlights of the festival is The Edge: Aerial Adventure, a high-rope course offering panoramic views of the surroundings.
Additionally, the National Dad Dancing Championship will take place during the event, with the winner earning a spot in the World Dad Dancing Championships in Devon later this year.
Ian Blackwell, founder of The Dads Network and DadFest organizer, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion of the event.
“DadFest started in Devon in 2014 and ten years later we are really pleased to be bringing our small, award-winning festival to East Yorkshire in partnership with East Riding of Yorkshire Council,” he said.
“We run the event because dads and children tell us how much they value getting back to nature, chilling-out and spending quality time with each other and making new friends.”
Councillor Nick Coultish of East Riding of Yorkshire Council highlighted the festival’s role in fostering family connections and local engagement.
“We are very pleased to be working with The Dads Network CIC and the DadFest team to bring this wonderful festival to our area and give dads the opportunity to connect with their children in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment,” he said.
For holiday parks and outdoor hospitality businesses, DadFest exemplifies the growing demand for experience-driven family-friendly events that emphasize outdoor engagement.
Parks and resorts can take note of how such curated activities add value to their offerings, attract new visitors, and promote repeat stays.
By providing structured yet flexible experiences, operators can create more meaningful connections with their guests while supporting community-building efforts.
The importance of diversifying programming to appeal to families aligns with broader trends in outdoor hospitality, as highlighted in Modern Campground’s February 2024 Hospitality Highlights.
The increasing popularity of nature-based events reflects a shift in consumer preferences, offering insights for business owners seeking to enhance their own facilities and attract a wider demographic.
