Spacious Skies Campgrounds, a collection of 15 RV and glamping campgrounds across the Eastern United States, has unveiled a series of monthly themes inspired by the night sky. The initiative aims to provide guests with immersive experiences featuring astronomy-focused activities and themed programming throughout the year.
Each campground will incorporate decor and guest events reflecting the monthly themes, ranging from group stargazing sessions with local astronomers to space-themed movie nights and scavenger hunts. The initiative is designed to enhance guest engagement while promoting outdoor recreation and appreciation for the night sky.
The 2025 lineup includes “Planetary Love” in April, emphasizing eco-friendly outdoor activities; “Critter Constellations” in June, featuring animal-themed programming; “Stellar Yuletide” in July, celebrating a midyear holiday experience; and “Spooktacular Skies and Cosmic Hauntings” in October, incorporating Halloween-inspired activities such as haunted trails and interstellar costume contests.
Beyond structured events, campgrounds will offer additional themed experiences tailored to their locations and staff creativity. Examples include birdwatching walks, space-themed karaoke nights, decorated golf cart parades, and pet-friendly gatherings at the Cosmic Canine Commons dog parks.
“As the name of our campgrounds suggests, we have drawn inspiration from our country’s compelling night skies from the day we started the company,” said Ali Rasmussen, co-founder of Spacious Skies Campgrounds.
“Our energetic and endlessly innovative campground staffers are continuously discovering new ways to make their guests’ stays memorable, and these themes are merely a jumping-off point for them to show off their creative chops,” Rasmussen noted.
Spacious Skies Campgrounds will mark its fourth anniversary on March 19. Founded by Ali and Eric Rasmussen, the company has gained attention for its approach to campground management, reinforcing its mission to encourage guests to “Take Your Indoors Outdoors.”
The company is also committed to inclusivity, partnering with organizations such as Black Folks Camp Too, Girl Camper, LGBT+ Outdoors, and Latinos Outdoors to promote diversity and accessibility in outdoor hospitality.
Campers interested in exploring multiple Spacious Skies locations can take advantage of the company’s Loyalty Program. Membership benefits include a 12% discount on campground reservations, exclusive merchandise releases, and additional perks throughout the year.
Spacious Skies Campgrounds are spread from Maine to Georgia, with several locations uniquely positioned for sky-gazing experiences. Spacious Skies Balsam Woods, located near Abbot, Maine, sits on the edge of the AMC Maine Woods International Dark Sky Park, providing guests with exceptional views of the aurora borealis and guided astronomy programs.
The company offers a range of accommodations beyond traditional RV sites. Most locations feature cabin rentals, and many include glamping options such as yurts and retro-style trailers, catering to various guest preferences.
Loyalty Program members, known as “Cosmic Campers,” can access exclusive savings on all accommodations, including RV sites and cabins, for an annual fee of $31.90. While the program’s discount cannot be combined with other promotions, members always receive the highest available discount.
