Summary

  • Valve announces it is expanding the number of games included in Steam’s Daily Deals from four to six.
  • Steam’s Daily Deals are promoted on the homepage for 24 hours, but most deals usually last for a week.
  • 2,843 games from 1,160 different developers and publishers were featured in Steam’s Daily Deals in 2024.

Valve has announced a major change to the Daily Deals program on Steam, confirming that the total number of games on offer will increase from four to six. The surprise increase was revealed in a lengthy Steam post on February 26, in which Valve not only announced that it would be adding more games to the mix each day but also showcased how beneficial the program has become for smaller developers.

Steam has grown exponentially since its inception in 2003, becoming one of the most prominent storefronts for PC gamers. While the platform continues to face stiff competition from the likes of the Epic Games Store and GOG, regular updates, massive seasonal sales, and new features are just some of the many reasons that Steam regularly breaks its own concurrent user record with millions using the platform every single day. Valve originally created the platform as a way to deploy new patch updates for its games efficiently, but Steam is now a beloved storefront for some of gaming’s biggest AAA titles and hidden indie gems.

Steam Expanding Daily Deals From 4 to 6

With thousands of games available on Steam, it can often be difficult for smaller developers to break through and market their game to a broader audience. The same can also be said for gamers, as discovering new and interesting titles that are unique to each Steam user can also be a mammoth task. However, Valve now says it is expanding its Daily Deals program from four games per day to six, which will benefit game developers and allow players to connect with some new titles. In a new blog post, Valve said that the Daily Deals program “helped thousands of games gain dedicated visibility on the Steam homepage” in 2024, with 2,843 games from 1,160 different developers and publishers being featured in the program.

To continue shining a light on both new and old releases, Valve says that a new Steam update will expand the Daily Deals program to support six titles per day. But with so many great Steam sales taking place each year, knowing where to find these Daily Deals still appears to be a mystery for some users. When loading up Steam, users will be greeted with a “Featured & Recommended” section, but it is just below in the “Special Offers” section where users will find the daily deals, which will be signified with a “Today’s deal” tagline. It is worth noting that these deals often last longer than one day, but are only promoted by Valve on the homepage for 24 hours before a new deal is then showcased.

It’s currently unclear when Steam intends to up the number of games included in the Daily Deals, as the platform is still showcasing four games at the time of writing. However, Valve recently confirmed its full Steam sale schedule for 2025, giving gamers plenty to look forward to. While there will be plenty of smaller sales scattered in between, users looking for some big discounts will be pleased to know that the Spring sale will be kicking off on March 13, followed by the highly anticipated Summer sale on June 26.
