Sunrise Campground in Storm Lake will open its online reservation system for the upcoming season on Tuesday, February 4, at 8 a.m., according to an announcement from the City of Storm Lake.
The campground, located along the shores of Storm Lake, is a popular destination for both locals and visitors, offering a range of camping options and amenities from mid-April to mid-September.
Reservations can be made through the City of Storm Lake’s official website, where an online booking link will be available. The Sunrise Campground offers 103 camping sites, including 36 full hookup sites with water, sewer, electricity, cable, fire pits, picnic tables, and concrete pads.
According to an article published by Storm Lake Radio, the campground also provides WiFi access throughout the premises and has restroom and laundry facilities on-site. Additionally, a designated area for tent camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Campers are advised to make early reservations, especially for the three busiest holiday weekends: Memorial Day from May 23 to May 26, the Fourth of July from July 2 to July 6, and Labor Day from August 29 to September 1. These peak periods typically see high demand, and securing a reservation in advance is recommended to guarantee a spot during those weekends.
The Sunrise Campground is situated on the eastern shore of Storm Lake, providing campers with convenient access to a variety of nearby amenities. Within walking distance, visitors can enjoy attractions such as King’s Pointe Waterpark, the Regatta Grille, Sunrise Pointe Golf Course, Pirates’ Pointe Mini Golf, and Mandeville Disc Golf Course.
Additional recreational options include sand volleyball courts, a family playground, and a public beach, making the area a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
The campground also offers both full-service and primitive camping sites, accommodating a range of preferences for campers. On-site attendants are available from mid-April to mid-September to assist guests, and facilities include restrooms and laundry services.
Additionally, visitors can purchase essentials like firewood and ice. For fishing enthusiasts, a boat ramp is conveniently located across the street, and a fish cleaning station is provided at the north end of the campground.
