Tennessee’s campground industry has gained national recognition in the 2025 Campspot Awards, with several properties across the state earning top honors.

The annual awards, organized by the Grand Rapids, Michigan-based campground booking platform Campspot, highlight exceptional outdoor destinations based on guest ratings, reservation data, and other key performance indicators.

This year, Tennessee secured two of the top five spots in the ‘Most Unique Campgrounds’ category and earned recognition across multiple segments, solidifying its growing reputation as a premier camping destination.

True West Campground Stables and Mercantile in Jamestown was named the #1 Unique Campground in the country, standing out for its western frontier theme, equestrian facilities, and immersive historical ambiance.

Crossing Creeks Farm in Shelbyville also made the list of top unique campgrounds, recognized for its tranquil riverside setting and secluded atmosphere.

These accolades reflect a broader trend of travelers seeking one-of-a-kind camping experiences that go beyond traditional offerings.

“Tennessee’s camping scene is unmatched in its variety and quality,” said Erin Stender, chief marketing officer of Campspot, in a report by Newsbreak

“From the one-of-a-kind experience at True West Campground to the peaceful retreats scattered across the state, Tennessee is delivering outdoor experiences that resonate with campers.”

Beyond the unique campground category, other Tennessee parks received distinctions in additional classifications.

Sun Outdoors Pigeon Forge in Sevierville was named a Top Large Campground, offering modern amenities and proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains.

Doe River Landing in Roan Mountain was recognized as a Top Hidden Gem, while Campers RV Park in Columbia earned a spot among the Top Small Campgrounds, emphasizing Tennessee’s broad appeal to various types of outdoor enthusiasts.

For campground owners and operators, these recognitions reinforce the importance of differentiation and guest satisfaction in an increasingly competitive industry.

Parks that highlight distinctive features—whether through themed experiences, high-quality amenities, or unique locations—are gaining traction with travelers who prioritize memorable and customized stays.

As demand for outdoor accommodations continues to rise, Tennessee’s strong showing in the Campspot Awards underscores the opportunities for campground businesses to attract new visitors by enhancing their offerings and marketing their unique attributes.

“This recognition is a testament to what we strive for—a peaceful, authentic outdoor experience,” said a spokesperson for Crossing Creeks Farm. “Tennessee’s landscapes give us the perfect backdrop.”

The state’s prominence in the awards aligns with broader industry trends pointing toward increased interest in specialty lodging, nature-based travel, and curated experiences.
