The buzz began when German visual artist Dominic Brinkmann shared renders of a Tesla camper van on his social media platform X/Twitter.
The design incorporates Tesla’s minimalist aesthetic, inspired by the company’s electric semi truck while emphasizing functionality and innovation.
According to a report by Tork, Brinkmann’s concept imagines a futuristic camper van with aerodynamic features, as well as an interior focused on comfort and utility.
The hypothetical specifications include a range of 420 miles, a top speed of 100 mph, and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds.
The artist envisions options for dual-motor and all-wheel-drive versions, potentially appealing to electric vehicle enthusiasts interested in sustainable travel.
A suggested price of $70,200 positions the design as a competitive offering in the market, should it materialize.
In the past few years, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has discussed the electrification of heavy trucks and urban transport vehicles, including comments in 2021 about broader opportunities in these sectors.
However, Tesla has not yet explored the recreational vehicle market despite growing consumer interest in electric alternatives for camping and road travel. This absence has left some wondering whether a Tesla camper van could fill a gap in the company’s portfolio.
