5 Centimeters Per Second Uses a Slow Pace to Convey Its Story
Streaming on Netflix

Anyone who describes 5 Centimeters Per Second as a slow and “a drag” are not wrong. In fact, the film is purposefully made to feel as mundane as possible. The movie is chopped up into chapters, each one a different year from the last. 5 Centimeters Per Second follows the never-ending first love between Takaki Tono and Akari Shinohara. Throughout the film, they each must follow their own paths, even if it doesn’t lead them together.
Now, back to this movie being very mundane. While many people watch films to see excitement and action, in most everyday lives, life can be relatively boring.
