Xbox Game Pass continues to dominate the video game subscription service world with each passing month. Thanks to its impressive library of games and its commitment to providing launch releases, Game Pass has dragged the gaming industry into the digital age, whether they were ready or not. Since then, competitors have looked to pull players away with their own fantastic offerings.

Game Pass is perfect for all players, especially those who revel in multiplayer gaming. Game Pass has some of the best Xbox multiplayer games out there, with plenty of games to suit any player’s multiplayer needs, whether local/couch co-op, online co-op, MMOs, or competitive experiences. It’s tough to find a weak game in the Game Pass catalog since it’s full of award-winning multiplayer games. As Microsoft puts it, players can easily find their “next favorite game” with Game Pass.

Updated on March 25, 2025, by Michael Colwander: The selection of games on Xbox Game Pass is ever-expanding with fantastic first-party games and wonderful multiplayer games, both local and online. More games have been added while the total number of games has been scaled back.

Fans of twin-stick bullet hell games and roguelikes will have a blast with Enter the Gungeon. Why are players entering “the Gungeon?” To find a gun that can “kill the past” of course! Enter the Gungeon is full of fun guns and items to blast through enemy hoards and tough bosses as well as meeting interesting NPCs.

What’s the Best Roguelike?

The roguelike is one of the most creative and imaginative subgenres that games have seen in a long time. The genre spans hack-and-slash action, deckbuilding, and poker theming, just to name a few. With the flood of fantastic roguelike games, which one do you think is the best of all time?

To bolster mobility and defense, players have access to a dodge roll and the ability to flip tables, adding a higher degree of strategy to every fight. Enter the Gungeon is only limited to two-player local co-op, and it’s honestly for the best. With how chaotic Enter the Gungeon is, and how much the slightest could spell death, players will be thankful to have someone by their side the entire run.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Is Basically Disney Animal Crossing

Cross-Platform Play: Yes

Disney Dreamlight Valley is a dream come true for Disney fans. Players can interact with and build friendships with an array of iconic Disney heroes and villains like Goofy, Elsa, and Gaston. In building up those friendships, players will gain access to new shops and activities like gardening with WALL-E. Completing quests and building up friendships is necessary to rid Dream Castle and its surrounding areas of Night Thorns that arrived in “the Forgetting.”

Disney Dreamlight Valley is a nice cozy game. With multiplayer, players are able to visit their friend’s Valleys, regardless of the system they play on. While visiting, you can explore, get inspired, and help gather resources. It does take a while into the game to gain access to multiplayer, but it’s a relaxing time once it’s unlocked. Players who download the game on Xbox Game Pass will also get 8,000 Moonstones to spend, which is valued at roughly $25. All the more reason to jump in and build up this magical kingdom!

Team Up With 32 Other Players In The Hades-Like 33 Immortals

Cross-Platform Play: Yes

Ever wondered what Hades would be like if it had multiplayer? Wonder no more! 33 Immortals is sure to provide that epic roguelike multiplayer fix! While not based on Greek Mythology, 33 Immortals is inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy. 33 damned souls work together to rebel against God’s final judgment.

Think of 33 Immortals like MMO raids that are easy to jump into without spending hundreds, if not thousands, of hours perfecting builds and rotations. There are both temporary and permanent upgrades that players can use to fit their playing style in hopes of ensuring the survival of as many of their 32 partners as possible to stand a chance against late-run bosses. 33 Immortals is available through early access, which means it’s still a work in progress, but the early reception is positive.

Hop Back Into Forza Horizon 5 For The Upcoming PlayStation 5 Release

Cross-Platform Play: Yes

It’s been surreal lately seeing longtime exclusive franchises jump to other platforms. Games like MLB: The Show, Sea of Thieves, and The Last of Us have all escaped exclusively in some form. April is poised to be a big month for Xbox games releasing on PlayStation 5 with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle releasing on April 17 and Forza Horizon 5 releasing on April 29.

Forza Horizon 5 is a big one, especially considering the Forza series was Microsoft’s successful answer to Gran Turismo. While Forza Horizon 5 isn’t a true sim like its mainline games, it’s an extremely impressive racing game to the point where it won IGN.com’s “Game of the Year” in 2021. Forza Horizon 5 is genuinely one of the best racing games ever made, and its release on PlayStation 5 makes now a great time to get back into the swing of things to prepare for the repopulation in late April.

Age Of Empires II: Definitive Edition Is A Classic That Continues To Age Well

Cross-Platform Play: Yes

Image via Ensemble Studios

Forza Horizon 5 isn’t the only cross-platform multiplayer game coming to the PlayStation 5. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is on its way as well! This follows Age of Mythology: Retold, which was released on the platform in early March.

The Definitive Edition of Age of Empires II is a fully remastered version of the strategy classic. It includes every expansion released up until that point from the original release and the 2012 HD Edition. If that’s not enough, Definitive Edition comes with even more original content with expansions, such as Chronicles: Battle for Greece, still releasing. For multiplayer, players can co-op with up to seven players or battle it out with seven adversaries. Definitive Edition does have a battle royale mode worth checking out, but it doesn’t appear to be active at this time. However, that could change once it is released on PlayStation 5.

Various serious-looking leaders from different cultures are depicted on the cover of Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings.

Over the years, EA has dominated the world of sports-based video games. Madden is one of the most popular football games, and it’s enjoyable even for gamers who don’t really care for football. Taking players and teams from professional and college level football, players can stop cheering from the bleachers and actually play as their favorite quarterbacks. That’s not all, however. Players are also free to completely make their own teams, from choosing the roster to customizing the team logo.

In terms of all Madden games, Madden NFL 25 isn’t entirely different from any of the ones before it. In fact, Madden 25 hardly has any real differences. However, that doesn’t mean that the game isn’t fun, especially when played with other people. Considering the newest Madden game is included in the Game Pass, that makes it a much more compelling reason to check out.

Cassette Beasts Is an Indie RPG Inspired By Pokémon

Cross-Platform Play: Yes

Image via Raw Fury

Cassette Beasts is a game like Pokémon for Xbox and Microsoft users. There are, of course, many differences throughout the game, but Cassette Beasts is a great option for any gamer who doesn’t own a Switch. In this pixelated RPG, players will explore while engaging in turn-based combat with their monsters. The interesting part of Cassette Beasts is that the player actually turns into their own monsters as they fight. To unlock more monsters, players can “catch” them during their battles.

Cassette Beasts is an enjoyable monster-taming game for friends to play together. Its combat system is arguably its strongest point, making it perfect for lovers of in-depth strategy games. On top of that, the visuals and color schemes are pretty endearing as the game leans into its cassette namesake. While Cassette Beasts isn’t the most unique game out there, it’s still an amazing multiplayer game that’s available on the Xbox Game Pass.

DayZ Is a Survival Zombie Game

Cross-Platform Play: No

Image via Bohemia Interactive

DayZ isn’t a new game by any means, but it still provides a great multiplayer Xbox experience. DayZ is an online-only game, so every server will have other players, but it’s fairly common to spend hours and hours without even running into another player. The biggest threat will be the infected roaming the world. The objective of the game is simple: survive. Of course, that’s much easier said than done. Together (or alone), players will spend their days exploring and looting without PVP being much of an issue.

DayZ is brutal and gritty. Dying and losing everything is all part of the thrill, even if it’s incredibly frustrating. Playing this game with friends or strangers on the server truly enhances the experience. Survival together is fun, even when it’s challenging. The best part of DayZ is that it’s basically endless when it comes to playing, making it a timeless game for friends to hop in and out of. It’s not a game for everyone, however, so being able to check this game out on the Xbox Game Pass is very convenient.

Not every gamer is looking for an intense shoot-out online with their friends. Be it for a good party game or just some fun online, Human Fall Flat is hours of entertainment. Human Fall Flat is one of those games that purposefully has some wonky controls and physics. It’s designed to be fairly chaotic, but that’s exactly what makes it such a great multiplayer game. It’s a low-stakes game with objectives that range from straightforward to only mildly confusing.

Human Fall Flat can be enjoyed with any number of players, but it grows increasingly hectic with more players. The controls consist of grabbing, jumping, and walking – pretty basic, but the game does an excellent job of keeping each level feeling fresh. Human Fall Flat is a great option for gamers seeking an obstacle course-style multiplayer game.

For the King II sends players across Fahrul’s massive realms, into gorgeous forests and deadly wastelands on an unforgettable adventure.

Players used to tabletop games will find For the King II immediately familiar, thanks to its cleverly designed overworld map that’s procedurally generated. The game also has a rogue-lite element, meaning if the entire party falls, they’ll have to start over from scratch, carrying more experience and wisdom for the next campaign. Even when players beat the game, an infinite dungeon mode combined with a clever turn-based combat system that rewards creativity means some players will return to this game for hundreds of hours of playtime.

Among Us has lost some of its steam over the years, but it’s still a highly addictive party-style game that gives players a platform to do what they do best: argue. In Among Us, players get to load in as a rounded little guy known as a Crewmate. Across multiple levels, players will spawn into space stations where they must complete their required tasks around the map. However, there are Imposters disguised as Crewmates. The Imposters will try to eliminate as many Crewmates without getting caught, to win.

Among Us actually requires a hefty amount of quick thinking. When a body is discovered, it can be reported – this will then take all players into a meeting, where they can discuss who they believe is the killer. That means it’s crunch time for the Imposter to pin it on another person. Thanks to its character designs and premise, Among Us has a silly atmosphere that will have players laughing even after they fight during the meeting. Among Us is one of the new titles recently added to the Xbox Game Pass, so subscribers should consider downloading it for upcoming holiday fun.

The stages in Vampire Survivors have a time limit of 15 or 30 minutes. Once that hits, players will fight one final stage boss: Death. Cody and May must work through both dangers and their personal conflicts if they want to reunite with their daughter again.

It Takes Two is explicitly designed for co-op play and can’t be played solo. Overwatch 2 Is Turning Into a PVP Classic

Cross-Platform Play: Yes

Hammond the Wrecking Ball from Overwatch 2 stands triumphant
Image via Blizzard Entertainment

Despite a bumpy road after a rough launch, Overwatch 2 is still going strong in 2025. Its roster continues to grow, now boasting 42 heroes, with Hazard being its newest. It’s still a popular game to play and watch, depending on the player’s mood, of course. It may not reach the highs in playerbase enthusiasm as the original did, but Overwatch 2 is still an entertaining PVP game thanks to its hero-shooter trappings, especially for those who haven’t yet given it a shot.

Overwatch 2 might be a free game, but linking a Battle.net account at certain times will give players limited rewards. Regardless, it’s an easy download for those with the Xbox Game Pass. Overwatch isn’t a new game, but there are plenty of gamers who’ve never given it a chance. It’s as rage-worthy as any PVP game, but its heroes and maps are exciting to learn and play.
