What would happen if Muzan never became a demon in Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba

What Happens To Hashira By The Finale Of Demon Slayer?

Where Do Our Heroes End Up?

At the start of Demon Slayer Hashiras are shown as side characters who are rarely seen. As the episodes progress, we see their importance more and more as they display their incredible skills.

Many demons, even the upper moons, acknowledge how powerful Hashiras are as they defy human limits with their astonishing abilities and are perhaps the biggest threat to the 12 Kizuki and Muzan. Each of these Hashiras plays an important role in the finale.

The Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku

Rengoku is the very first Hashira who received a major spotlight and was one of the main characters in the Mugen Train arc. During their fight with the Lower-Rank One demon Enmu, Rengoku managed to save countless lives for which he is remembered to this date by fellow Hashiras and Demon Slayers.

Go ahead and live with your head held high! No matter how devastated you may be by your own weakness or uselessness…set your heart ablaze. Grit your teeth and look straight ahead – Rengoku

However, when he fought one of the Upper Moons, Akaza he tragically lost his life but did put up a good fight which Akaza acknowledged as well. We do see his essence in one of his brother’s descendants, Tojuro Rengoku, after the final events of Demon Slayer.

The Insect Hashira, Shinobu Kocho

The weakest of the Hashiras never failed to show her genius at the most demanding and crucial of times. Her incredible knowledge of the wisteria poison made up for her lack of physical strength. And she proves this during the final battle when she comes across Doma the upper moon two.

The demon was also responsible for killing her older sister, which is why she wanted to fight and defeat him no matter what it took. Even though she ended up losing the fight against him, she played a major role in defeating the upper rank. She was aware that she wouldn’t be able to defeat Doma so easily so she planned a strategy to inject her veins with 37 kilograms of Wisteria poison.

Shinobu knew that Doma had absorbed his victims, so when he did the same with Shinobu, the wisteria poison proved to be a key factor in winning against him, as the poison weakened him considerably. After that, Kanao and Inosuke were able to kill Doma, marking his defeat thanks to Shinobu’s sacrifice. In the after story, we see her and her sister’s reincarnations as students.

Demon Slayer: Could A Hashira Become As Strong As A Demon Without A Mark?

How strong are Hashira without the Demon Slayer Mark, and can they defeat powerful demons like the Upper Moons without it?

The Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito

Muichiro was considered one of the strongest and most talented Hashiras in the series despite being only 14 years old. In the finale, he faces the rank one demon Kokushibo who is also his ancestor. The Hashira awakens his Demon Slayer Mark and manages to damage the Moon Breathing swordsman to a great extent.

My job is to eliminate demons. That’s all that matters – Muichiro

However, Kokushibo ends up overpowering and defeating Muichiro. His death was one of the most heartbreaking ones as he was stabbed through the chest and lost both his arms and legs during this battle. Before his death, however, the damage he dealt with his Bright Red Nichirin Sword gave Sanemi and Gyomei the chance to defeat Kokushibo.

The Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji

The most cheerful Hashira, Mitsuri, is no less than a ray of pure sunshine as she is constantly cheering up others around her with her bright personality. However, her fate is quite tragic as she dies during the battle with Muzan Kibutsuji.

In her final moments, however, she confessed her love to Obanai Iguro. The final chapter of the manga shows us the reincarnations of both Mitsuri and Iguro who are now running a bakery together.

The Serpent Hashira, Obanai Iguro

Just like Mitsuri, Obanai also suffers from a tragic death during the final battle against Muzan. However, he put up a great fight despite losing his eyesight.

You are unworthy of being a Hashira if you hesitate to put your life on the line -Obanai

Both Mitsuri and Iguro spend their final moments together, and we see them living happily together after being reincarnated in the final chapter of Demon Slayer.

What is the true nature of the Shinazugawa brothers’ relationship in Demon Slayer, and why is Sanemi so cold toward Genya?

The Stone Hashira, Gyomei Himejima

Known as the most powerful Hashira of the current era, Gyomei Himejima proved to be one of the major threats to Muzan during the final battle. His stone breathing contributed a lot during the fight and, thanks to his motivation, the Demon Slayers were able to defeat Muzan. Gyomei was aware that stepping into this battle meant certain death.

He needed to awaken his Demon Slayer mark, which wouldn’t allow him to live past the age of 25. But since he was already 27 years old he probably would not live much longer. Despite that, he gave his all during the battle and suffered from fatal injuries that resulted in his end.

The Sound Hashira, Tengen Uzui

The flamboyant Hashira who also defeated the upper moon 6 demon Gyutaro and Daki, retired after losing an eye and a hand during the battle. This is why he couldn’t participate in the final battle. However, despite his retirement, he offered to train the Demon Slayer corps and make them powerful enough to deal with the Demon King Muzan.

While he had his own fair share of troubles, his fate wasn’t as heartbreaking as others. He went on to live a peaceful life of retirement with his wives. In the final chapter of the manga, we see his descendant, Tenma Uzui, who excels greatly at sports.

The Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa

Sanemi was one of the very few survivors after the events of the Infinity Castle arc. Even though he ended up defeating Kokushibo, he lost a lot during this nightmare of a battle. The wind Hashira ended up losing two of his fingers but nothing was greater than the loss of his very own brother Genya Shinazugawa. Genya was cut in half by the Upper Rank One.

His demon-eating abilities couldn’t help him regenerate, which resulted in his tragic end. While Sanemi managed to live on the other hand, his survival might not mean much as he also developed the Demon Slayer mark during the battle which meant he would die by the age of 25. In the final chapter, however, a reincarnated Sanemi is seen as a police officer along with his brother Genya.

Demon Slayer: 5 Best Battles In The Final Arcs

Demon Slayer has many intense fights, especially in the last two arcs of the series.

The Water Hashira Tomioka Giyuu

Giyuu Tomioka performing Dead Calm against Rui.

Giyuu Tomioka fights alongside Tanjiro to defeat Akaza and Muzan. In this battle, he ends up losing his arm but he remains steadfast and supports Tanjiro throughout the fight. Both Giyuu and Sanemi played a crucial role and stopped Muzan from fleeing from the battle before sunrise which resulted in his death.

He also developed the Demon Slayer mark, which meant he would die by his 25th birthday. His reincarnated version is shown to be a student, and we also see the reincarnation of Sabito along with him. The fate of the Hashiras is truly heartbreaking as even those who survived were left with terrible physical and emotional wounds which would be very hard to recover from. While the demon-free world will give some amount of peace to the surviving Hashiras Tengen, Sanemi and Tomioka, it is also worth noting that both the wind and water Hashira developed Demon Slayer marks so they won’t have that long to live. The final chapter, however,, does give us some peace of mind after seeing their reincarnations leading much better lives.
