The Goonies have reunited and it feels so good.
The gang got back together again to celebrate one of their own. The beloved 1985 film’s screenwriter Chris Columbus and stars Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green, and Josh Brolin were all on hand to toast Ke Huy Quan, who was honored with a hand-and-footprint ceremony at the famed TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles on Monday (minus Sean Astin, who was missing in action).
In addition to posing for some truly iconic photos with the group, Brolin also shared some sweet words for his costar. First, he shared a touching letter from The Goonies executive producer Steven Spielberg, who couldn’t attend due to a vacation, praising Quan and his career success. “I’m proud of you for your meteoric rise as a child, and then your second meteoric rise as a grown-up, and believe me, very few of us get two bites of that apple,” Brolin read from Spielberg’s letter.
Then, Brolin paid tribute to his friend, who he called “truly one of the last existences of the American dream.” He continued, “I won’t say much other than after The Goonies, I too lived in the ethers of our business for 19-plus years. The only difference being that I was still chipping away at leftovers and trading stocks full time while you pursued a whole other profession and excelled in it famously.”
Brolin also praised his costar for having “that Midas touch…because you have that heart of gold that you’ve always had, as far back as 40 years it’s been.” Though Brolin was 16 and Quan was “a spritely 13,” Brolin said he remembers his costar’s family “having the same heart-driven, totally inclusive disposition, always welcoming, always with open arms.”
“I could not be happier for you. I know we all are, all us Goonies, here for an honor that is not only totally deserved but celebrates all that is right in this industry. Love you, pal,” he concluded.
Columbus, Daniel Scheinert, and Daniel Kwan also gave remarks about Quan at the ceremony.
Seeing everyone there to support him and watching Brolin “just talking about me” made Quan feel like “I couldn’t control my emotions,” the actor told TooFab afterward. He also admitted he’d love to play Data one more time, should the opportunity arise.

“I love that movie so much. It’s one of the greatest adventures of my life,” he told the outlet. “I would be so happy to revisit that character and, of course, go on another Goonies adventure with my fellow Goonies, that would be amazing!”
