Amy Schumer’s Critically Panned New Comedy Becomes Huge Hit on Streaming

The Emmy-winning actress Amy Schumer proves she’s still a force to be reckoned with.

Apple Cider Vinegar comes from Samantha Strauss, who previously worked on the 2021 Hulu hit series Nine Perfect Strangers starring Nicole Kidman, which is set to return with Season 2. It also stars Fear the Walking Dead‘s Alycia Debnam-Carey, The Bold Type‘s Aisha Dee, I Am Woman‘s Tilda Cobham-Hervey, and Succession‘s Ashley Zukerman.

Kailyn Dever Received Praise for Her Australian Accent

Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Kaitlyn Dever received praise for her Australian accent. The actress notes that she became “obsessed” with learning the accent, listening to the local news and working with Jenny Kent, her accent coach. “I was paying attention to my accent like I would music[al] notes and sounds,” Dever told Tudum. “That helped me be really specific about my performance. I just had to memorize the words over and over again.”

She also explained she “didn’t want to let Australia down,” so she and her accent coach “were seeing each other three times a week over Zoom and going over every single word that I say, kind of like I would a song, memorizing those sounds. I love accent work in general, but there’s something about this accent in particular and how it allowed me to dive deep into someone else. It was really helpful for me to separate myself from the character.”

Apple Cider Vinegar is streaming on Netflix.
