In this episode of Commercial Space Transformers SpaceNews Senior Staff Writer Jason Rainbow speaks with Declan Ganley, CEO & Chairman, Rivada networks.
Ganley details Rivada’s ambitious plans to create the “Outernet,” a fully independent, enterprise-grade satellite network and how Rivada differentiates itself from traditional satellite constellations by implementing dynamic data routing in low Earth orbit, which the company says enhances security, speed, and reliability.
Despite regulatory challenges, including a rescinded spectrum right in Liechtenstein due to lawfare from China, Ganley said they are on track to meet regulatory deadlines and customer demands.
On the funding question. Ganley discusses Rivada’s funding strategy and cites the nearly $15 billion pipeline of signed MOUs as evidence of the substantial demand for its services. He confidently predicts an explosion in demand for orbital networking capacity, dismissing concerns about an oversupply of low Earth orbit satellites. He also warns about vulnerabilities in undersea internet cables, positioning Rivada’s Outernet as a critical alternative for resilient global connectivity.
