Being a highly popular IP, The Sims is naturally one of the best-selling franchises published by EA. Since 2000, the year when the first game came out, it has grown exponentially and attracted millions of players. In October 2024, the American publisher shared that The Sims 4 saw an influx of over 15 million new players in the preceding year, owing to the cadence of new expansion packs as well as the game going free-to-play in 2022. Recently, fans of the series, especially longtime enthusiasts, have been intrigued by talks of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 being re-released. Driven by the same, one passionate Sims 4 player created a throwback to the original game and to its tutorial family, the Newbies.

The Sims 4’s Latest Kits Could Be a Game Changer
Though the Kits may seem like any other, The Sims 4’s most recent drop could change the way DLC is constructed in the future.
On Reddit, user Free_Gascogne shared pictures of a Sims 4 house reminiscent of the one in which the Newbies lived in the first game. Giving their memories of Sims 1 a revisit, the talented player accurately built the single-bedroom house of the Newbie family, who are a recurring presence throughout the series. From the spacious kitchen to the furniture on the outdoor plot, they recreated most of the details to an impressive degree. In addition to the house, they apparently also created Sims characters who look like members of the Newbie household, Bob and Betty. In the title of the post, the passionate Sims fan mentioned that they “cant [sic] wait to play Sims 1 again,” giving an obvious nod to the rumored re-release of the original.
Sims 4 Player Recreates The Newbies’ House from Sims 1, Gets Praise From Other Players
Free_Gascogne’s eye-catching creation won laurels from others in the Sims4 subreddit. Understandably, it evoked a feeling of nostalgia in most of them, prompting one user to remark, “Childhood memories unlocked.” A few different users also shared anecdotes related to the original Sims. While one user recalled playing as the Newbie family for “hours and hours” without realizing it was a tutorial, another user amusingly remembered how they electrocuted their character during a TV repair. Interestingly, similar striking house recreations in Sims 4 have caught the attention of the community before as well.
Besides the rumored re-releases of the first two Sims titles, there’s another leak that has piqued the interest of fans. According to a new rumor, Sims 4 is set to receive yet another DLC, bringing fresh content for the players ahead of the franchise’s 25th anniversary on February 4, 2025.
