The View is a space for women supporting women — and their right to call each other “slut” and “whore.”
Friday morning’s live show revealed that the Hot Topics table might also be a hotbed that’s lightly masochistic in nature, after it was revealed that 82-year-old longtime panelist Joy Behar often refers to her professional colleagues as “slut” and “whore” during personal time — and they admittedly like it.
During the cohosts’ chat about “salt-coating” conversations amid deep friendships (Behar described it as the opposite of sugar-coating information), Sara Haines chimed in to say, “I call it Joy-coating!” before her peers weighed in.
“We all know you salt-coat everything,” Sunny Hostin told Behar. “But, I like that. A real friend is an honest friend.”
Behar warned the table, “You have to be prepared from me, I love you first!” she said, prompting Haines to reply with an admission of her own: “I love it when you insult me,” she said.
“Your term of endearment for me is the Italian word for slut,” Ana Navarro added, as Behar smirked, looked at the camera, and said, “Puttana!”

Again, Haines jumped in to remind everyone that she does, in fact, find it pleasurable to be on the receiving end of Behar’s quips: “She calls me a whore,” Haines said. “Just in English.”

The sentiment rings true, as Behar once called Hostin a slut live on the air in October 2023.
“You were such a little slut,” Behar said of Hostin’s style of dress during her years as a Catholic school student in New York City.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
