Two months ago, Hulu removed several anime from its Toei Animation Network page, including multiple seasons of Digimon, Dragon Ball and One Piece. Now, once again, the first four seasons of Digimon have returned to the platform and are available for streaming.

Digimon disappearing only to reappear a couple of months later is, unfortunately, nothing new for the series, nor older shows available for streaming in general. Thanks to the way licensing deals and streaming rights work, having a series come and go from major platforms as licenses expire and get renewed is common. For Digimon in particular, this is not the first time the series has taken a short sabbatical from being available for streaming, and it’s unlikely to be the last.

New Digimon Anime Brings Back Agumon, Tai & Rest of Original Series Cast

Amid news of a new Digimon series, a 25th-anniversary anime has been released that nostalgically looks back at Agumon and the original DigiDestined.

The returning line-up includes the first four major Digimon series: Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers and Digimon Frontier. Each is available in English dub and contains all 54, 50, 51 and 50 episodes, respectively. Overall, this return is great news for Digimon fans, as the first four seasons are widely regarded as the best the franchise has to offer. Whether this is mostly nostalgia speaking or not, it’s difficult to argue that Digimon Adventure‘s Taichi and Agumon aren’t easily the most recognizable main characters the series has, with Agumon often acting in a similar mascot fashion to Pokémon’s Pikachu.

While the gap in streaming the original few seasons of the anime has disappointed many Digimon fans, most of the news surrounding the franchise recently has been positive. With the 25th anniversary of Digimon being celebrated since March of last year, it seems the announcements have not stopped coming. Recently, during 2025’s Digimon Con, there were plenty of new announcements to go around, including an upcoming brand-new anime series and information focused on the trading card game. Details regarding the newest Digimon Story video game also surfaced during PlayStation’s recent State of Play.

Digimon Returns Anime Fans to the ’90s With 25th-Anniversary International Fashion Release

Digimon’s iconic first anime series, Digimon Adventure, celebrates 25 years with a new streetwear fashion collection available internationally.

With all the news coming out, it seems as though the Digimon franchise aims to recapture some of its former glory and push through something of a renaissance for the series. There has also been a strong trend over the last several years to focus heavily on nostalgia for older properties in general to gain traction, whether through full-on reboots or retoolings of existing series.

In either case, Digimon has been making solid strides to gain popularity in recent years. Aside from Digimon Story Time Stranger, Digimon Alysion is also in development — a mobile game version of the trading card game, which was likewise unveiled during the events of Digimon Con 2025. The Digimon TCG has also been gaining popularity since the major rework of the game in 2020. If the title turns out to be a hit, Digimon could easily see a huge resurgence in popularity given the impressive diversity of the media franchise.

With so many new Digimon properties on the way, now is the perfect time for old and new fans alike to dive into what the series already has to offer — and with the first four classic seasons of the anime that started it all returning to streaming, there is now, once again, a perfect place to start.
