A Clear Message to Lok Sabha MPs

The Speaker’s podium in the Lok Sabha has entry points from both the ruling and Opposition sides. While this is meant for MPs to enter and exit the podium while taking oath and occasionally go to the chamber behind the Speaker’s chair for meetings, during the previous sessions a few protesting MPs used the entry points to trespass to the podium. The half doors at the entry points that used to remain open are now locked and no one can enter the podium without the aid of marshals. While the message is clear, none has complained.

Raj’s take on song, dance in historical biopics

MNS chief Raj Thackeray always makes fun of filmmakers using songs in biopics of historical figures. Recently, he asked one such filmmaker to remove a song from the movie on Chhatrapati Sambhaji in which the latter can be seen dancing. Thackeray said it would have looked ridiculous if Richard Attenborough, who made the film ‘Gandhi’, had portrayed Gandhi playing Dandiya instead of focusing on his life and freedom struggle. Attenborough might have thought of inserting a dandiya song if Gandhi was carrying two sticks instead of one, Thackeray wondered.

Sivagami to Bahubali

At a recent event in Beed, BJP MLA Suresh Dhas dubbed CM Devendra Fadnavis as ‘Bahubali’. Dhas has been at loggerheads with NCP minister Dhananjay Munde and BJP’s Pankaja Munde. Pankaja, during her speech, said she has ‘motherly feelings’ towards Fadnavis, even though he is senior to her, as Dhas a few years ago called her Sivagami. Pankaja was alluding to Sivagami being Bahubali’s mother in the movie.
