  • Passengers will also experience in-flight surprises connected to the iconic video game. 

JetBlue recently announced a special livery plane that features Mario, the popular video game hero, as well as other characters from the Nintendo franchise. The airline shared photos of the Airbus A320 which was transformed to spotlight Mario, Princess Peach, Luigi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi. 

The colorful livery includes the signature blue and red color scheme from the Super Mario game, as well as features of the various characters waving from oversized airplane windows throughout the plane. Mario and Luigi are the first two characters located above the wing, and deliver big smiles to onlookers. The design also features different stars and yellow stripes, as a nod to the iconic video game.

The airline says they dubbed the plane “Cloudtop Cruiser,” as another connection to Super Mario. Passengers should be on the lookout for tail number N561JB if they want to fly on the themed Airbus. The aircraft was recently used for a flight between Boston, MA and Cancun, Mexico, as well as between Boston, MA to Orlando, FL, according to FlightAware data

“With a bright, colorful design, this sky-high tribute to Nintendo’s beloved characters is sure to bring ‘Super Star’ smiles to customers’ faces,” JetBlue shared in a news release. 

JetBlue also revealed they has special surprises for passengers on the plane, with a greeting from Mario himself on the in-flight entertainment system. 

This isn’t JetBlue’s first partnership with Nintendo, the airline has previously hosted a Nintendo Switch pop-up in New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport. The airline also regularly creates special airplane liveries, featuring the Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, Brooklyn Nets, New York Jets, and other sports teams. 

JetBlue has been expanding its route network to offer travelers more destinations. The airline recently announced new flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) to San Pedro Sula, Honduras (SAP), as well as a new route from New York, NY (LGA) to Tampa, FL (TPA).
