And unlike NYC apartments that are similar in size, it’s not a studio. The two-bedroom layout, combined with a generous front porch, means you get lots of area for living in — at least as far as tiny homes normally go.

Even if you’re only looking for a little vacation getaway or an in-law suite rather than a full-time dwelling, breathing room is so important. The wide front porch gives the illusion that the open-plan living and kitchen area extends past the exterior walls, through the (optional) all-glass double doors to the great outdoors. Stuffiness should not be a problem.

The structure ships flat and unfolds into a 19-by-20-foot habitable cube. The frame is steel, and the walls are made of flame-retardant foam sandwich panels. The floor is a mix of MGO, PVC, and fiber cement. According to the manufacturer, it’s rated for earthquakes up to level 8 and wind up to level 10. 

According to the Amazon listing, the house is customizable, including the layout and siding color. The price starts at $8,959, but personalized elements and extras might cost more.
