The second wave of Astro Bot DLC stages is already proving to be quite a bit more difficult than the first, with Thrust or Bust ranking among the toughest courses in the game. As a result, those hoping to master its many challenges and rescue the VIP bot at the end of it will need to bring their A-game.

Every Stage in Astro Bot (All Planets List)

Every stage in Astro Bot provides its own challenges, forcing players to think outside the box or make use of unique power-ups.

As the name might suggest, Thrust or Bust has players make use of the dog power-up to navigate an incredibly challenging course. The following guide will go over some of the potential pitfalls, while also providing details of the Thrust or Bust Cameo Bot that Astro Bot players will unlock for overcoming them.

How to Complete Thrust or Bust

To start off with, players will need to boost into the two bell enemies, which will make the sea urchin-like enemies start to move. If they’re quick, they can boost straight into the blue dog panel as soon as the second bell has been defeated. At the top, there’s a yellow spikey enemy, although it’s fairly easy to dodge. Players can punch it if they like, or just run around it.

Moments later, players will come to two spinning logs, the first of which has a large purple spitter on it. Rather than trying to jump from one log to the other, players should go straight from the first one to the yellow dog panel, being sure to punch the purple spitter along the way. They’ll then come to a blue bounce pad, which, together with the dog power-up, they can use to reach the nearby leaf platform.

Instead of trying to jump over the spinning green vines, players should just run around the platform to their left. As long as they keep moving, the spitter won’t be able to get them. This will enable them to get onto the nearby glass platform, from which they can boost into the tunnel in the wall, being sure to dodge the spinning purple vines.

A green spitter enemy will appear in the tunnel, although players can just run around it and boost into the blue dog panel. They’ll then need to safely navigate a few more glass panels and dodge some more spinning vines. They’ll likely get tagged by some of the small exploding enemies on the second glass panel, so should perform a spin jump once they get past the vines.

After dodging or spin-punching the two yellow spiky enemies that show up in the next section, players should jump on the blue bounce pad and then boost into or past the bell to reach another bounce pad. Here, they’ll need to boost into the blue dog panel that is facing them, which will vary depending on their timing up until this point. They’ll have a few seconds to judge whether to go left or right though, so this isn’t too tricky.

In the next section, giant sea urchin-like enemies will fly toward Astro, so players will need to boost from the platforms on one side to the other in order to dodge them. They’ll then be able to use a blue bounce pad to reach some floating green platforms with bells on them. They can either dodge or boost into the first two bells, but will need to boost into the last one to make the finishing platform appear.

Thrust or Bust Cameo Bot

Upon finishing the course, players will unlock the Fairytale Hero Cameo Bot, which is based on yet another character from an iconic PlayStation game. If they then visit the Gatcha Lab at the Crash Site, they’ll be able to get the Wind-Powered Tower item to complete the VIP Bot’s look. Much like in the Tick-Tock Shock DLC stage before it, there is only one Cameo Bot in Thrust or Bust.
