Tim Hollingsworth is to step down as chief executive of grassroots sport funding body Sport England in July.

Hollingsworth has been in the role since 2018, having spent the previous seven years in a similar position at the British Paralympic Association.

“Being chief executive of Sport England has been an enormous privilege and the past six years have been among the most fulfilling of my professional life,” he said. “It is one of the very best jobs in sport.”

The organisation’s chair, British Olympic cycling gold medallist Chris Boardman, said: “As Tim departs, I extend my deepest gratitude for his leadership. He has positioned Sport England to collaborate with a broader range of partners, all united in a shared commitment to a path that will bring about lasting change.

“We will now carry the torch forward, continuing to build on and deliver Tim’s transformative vision.”

Sport England is an arms-length government body that allocates around £250m of public and National Lottery funding to grassroots sport each year.
