It seems Tina Fey and Amy Poehler aren’t too fond of Harvard’s comedy culture.

The longtime friends and frequent collaborators recently took a trip down memory lane during the debut episode of Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, and called out some ill-fated attempts at humor from students at the Ivy League school two decades ago.

“We went up to the Harvard Lampoon,” Poehler recalled, noting that that’s where the duo met Baby Jost — their nickname for their eventual Saturday Night Live collaborator Colin Jost, who headed the Lampoon before graduating from Harvard in 2004.

“That’s where we met him?” Fey asked. “I have a terrible memory. I remember I hated every minute being at the Harvard Lampoon.”

“Me too,” Poehler agreed.

“What a bunch of dorks,” Fey said.

Poehler then explained the context of the duo’s visit. “The Harvard Lampoon invites you up and they kind of roast you,” she said.

“They invite you to come up and then you go there and then a bunch of, like, snively little worms try to roast you,” Fey noted, “and they’re not good at it.”

Poehler concurred. “No, they’re not good at it,” she said. “But you and I, many times, over the years, many times, have had this moment where we turn to each other and loved or hated something at the same time. And this was definitely an example where we both were like, ‘We don’t like this.’ And they make you go through this kind of initiation. And I mean, I wasn’t in a sorority in college, I don’t get it.”

The Parks and Recreation star continued: “They made you go through a whole thing and then they brought us into a big giant room and they kind of roasted us. And we had, we had, I think we had a lot of fun in how much we did not engage, didn’t like it.”

Poehler clarified that Jost didn’t actually participate in the proceedings. “Baby Jost was there. He was the baby,” she said. “We didn’t get a Jost roast.”

Fey said her spotty memory prevented her from recalling any of the individuals present at the event. “I don’t remember any of the actual people that roasted us,” she said.

Poehler, on the other hand, has held one roaster in her mind for more than 20 years. “I remember the face of one guy,” she revealed.

Fey asked if she had any further context. “Has he gone on to work in comedy?”

Poehler responded, “I don’t believe he has.”
