Nationwide bird flu outbreaks have disrupted the poultry industry, causing high egg prices and shortages. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, egg prices will rise 20.3 percent in 2025, the result of a recent outbreak that has led to a record number of chicken deaths, greatly limiting egg supply. And while shoppers shell out or struggle to find eggs on grocery store shelves, restaurants and bakeries that rely on the staple ingredient have been forced to adjust prices or recipes in an effort to maintain their bottom lines.
