Recently, collectible company Prime 1 Studio held a special showcase for some of its upcoming products. These include two epic Transformers statues designed by artist Josh Nizzi.

Based on previously-shown concept art, Prime 1 Studio x Josh Nizzi Overlord Megatron and Prime 1 Studio x Josh Nizzi Optimus Prime Zero X are truly more than meets the eye. Loaded with details that reference different takes on the characters, these impressive statues represent something titled “Age of Overlord.” While details are still scarce, fans will hopefully be able to own these takes on the faction leaders soon.

An upcoming third-party Megatron toy beefs up the Decepticon commander with a design that homages a nearly 20-year-old Transformers release.

Prime 1 Studio Lives Up to Its Name With Upcoming Transformers Statues

While the statues were already shown to some extent in previous reals, the Prime 1 Studio Next Level Showcase XIII gave a closer lok at the company’s upcoming takes on Optimus Prime and Megatron from Transformers. Both are sold with the subtitle of “Age of Overlord,” suggesting that more figures will be released in this subline by the company. Overlord Megatron has a design that’s similar to Generation 1 while also sporting the kind of detail seen in the live-action Transformers movies. Along with the iconic fusion cannon on his right arm, he also wields a scythe that can be held in his other hand. This weapon is an original addition, and it helps separate the statue from previous takes on the character. Based on concept art from 2015, he also has a removable “cape” made out of rubberized tank treads, although the statue doesn’t actually transform into this suggested alternate mode.

Optimus Prime has a design even more so based on his classic G1 form, albeit with extensive detail. He comes with a version of his Ion blaster, with his other weapons being a handheld ax (similar to the one in the Transformers: War for Cybertron video games), two dagger-like blades and a shield, the latter of which seems to homage a toy released to tie into the Transformers: War for Cybertron: Siege Netflix anime. Another addition is a jetpack, which might reference his combining with Jetfire in the live-action movies. This is one of two Optimus Prime statues designed by Prime 1 Studio, with another being even more stylized and named after Generation 1 Powermaster Optimus Prime. Prime 1 Studio has released several incredible statues and busts based on various franchises, from Transformers to manga such as Berserk. Bristling with detail, these are some of the most impressive licensed statues out there. The release dates and price points for both Overlord Megatron and Optimus Prime have yet to be announced.
