Under Canvas Inc. has announced a $50 million investment in property enhancements and innovations across its nationwide locations for the 2025 season, reinforcing its position as a key player in upscale outdoor hospitality.
The company is expanding its footprint with two new camp locations and introducing upgraded amenities designed to enhance the guest experience.
The investment includes the addition of Under Canvas Yosemite, set to open on May 15, 2025, and Under Canvas Columbia River Gorge, scheduled to launch on May 29, 2025.
The Yosemite location, spanning 80 acres, is positioned near the west entrance of Yosemite National Park, providing easy access to one of the country’s most visited natural attractions.
Meanwhile, the Columbia River Gorge site, located in Washington’s White Salmon River Valley, sits on 120 acres and offers proximity to waterfalls, forests, and wineries.
Both sites aim to attract outdoor travelers seeking high-end camping experiences while integrating seamlessly with their natural surroundings.
Beyond expansion, Under Canvas is implementing property-wide enhancements. The company is introducing safari-style kids’ tents at select locations, including Moab, Columbia River Gorge, North Yellowstone-Paradise Valley, and Great Smoky Mountains.
According to a press release, these accommodations aim to appeal to families, featuring wooden decks, string lights, and nightlights designed to enhance the ambiance.
Additionally, the North Yellowstone-Paradise Valley site will see an expansion to meet rising demand, and both the Moab and Great Smoky Mountains camps will undergo upgrades, including new furnishings, additional fire pits, and expanded social spaces.
“At Under Canvas, our commitment to providing an unparalleled experience is unwavering,” said Matt Gaghen, CEO of Under Canvas.
“Our continued growth and evolution, from the upcoming launch of our new camps in Yosemite and the Columbia River Gorge, to the enhanced amenities and refreshed spaces across our existing locations, reflects our ongoing commitment to elevating the guest experience and finding more ways to enhance access to the outdoors.”
For outdoor hospitality operators, Under Canvas’ expansion reflects a growing demand for high-end camping experiences, particularly near national parks.
The investment underscores the importance of continuous property development and innovation to attract discerning guests.
As competition increases in the glamping and luxury outdoor space, operators may need to focus on unique offerings and elevated guest amenities to remain competitive.
Under Canvas’ approach to integrating premium accommodations with natural landscapes could serve as a model for other industry players looking to enhance their offerings and capture a share of the expanding market.
