In 2021, Shweta Bharti cleared the Union Public Service Examination (UPSC) to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.
Exam experts often suggest that preparing for a challenging test like the UPSC Civil Service Exam (CSE) requires a commitment of 10–12 hours of study time per day. However, a young woman from Bihar named Shweta Bharti disproved this assumption by balancing her CSE exam preparation with a 9-hour workday in the private sector.
In 2021, Shweta Bharti, an officer in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), passed the Union Public Service Examination (UPSC). She is currently posted in Bhagalpur, Bihar. She hails from Rajgir Bazaar in the Nalanda region of Bihar and excelled academically from a young age.
Shweta Bharti completed her schooling at Ishan International Public School in Patna. Following her schooling, she graduated from Bhagalpur Engineering College with a degree in Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering. After completing her degree, she was selected by the well-known Indian multinational technology company Wipro.
During her time at Wipro, Shweta Bharti still aspired to change careers and enter the civil service. However, she had no intention of quitting her job due to family responsibilities. She reportedly found a balance, dividing her time between working during the day and studying in the evenings.
Furthermore, Shweta Bharti admits that she found it challenging to juggle her job and civil service preparation. She deliberately decided to step away from social media and online communities while preparing for her exam. At one point, she even decided to completely give up using smartphones.

After considerable effort, she eventually passed the UPSC exam in 2021 with a 356th rank. An IAS officer from the UPSC 2021 batch, Shweta Bharti is currently serving in Bhagalpur, Bihar, as an Assistant Collector.
