USA Camping Company has acquired the Waldport/Newport KOA Journey. The acquisition strengthens the company’s presence in the outdoor hospitality sector, aligning with its mission to provide high-quality camping experiences.

Overlooking Alsea Bay, the Waldport/Newport KOA Journey offers direct ocean access and year-round accommodations. The campground is located near beaches, historic lighthouses, sea caves, and national forests, making it a sought-after destination for travelers exploring the Oregon coast.

“We are thrilled to add the Waldport/Newport KOA Journey to our carefully curated portfolio of RV, camping, and glamping properties,” said Danny Mulcahy, CEO of USA Camping Company.

“With its prime location and great views, this campground offers a truly unique experience for travelers. We are excited to enhance its offerings while maintaining the welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere that campers love,” Mulcahy added.

Campgrounds contribute significantly to local economies. According to KOA’s annual Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, the average camper spends $156 per day, with 30% expressing interest in visiting small towns and another 30% drawn to food tourism.

KOA Journey campgrounds are designed for convenience, offering long pull-thru RV sites, well-lit after-hours check-in, and stocked camp stores. Located along major travel routes, these campgrounds provide an experience for road travelers and RV enthusiasts.

The Waldport/Newport KOA Journey also features RV sites, tent camping, and cabin rentals. Guests have easy access to Highway 101 and direct bay and beach entry.

Amenities include a camp store, laundromat, free Wi-Fi, and cable television. The campground has earned multiple “Top 50 Views” awards.

Future improvements include upgrades to the clubhouse, cabins, and camp store, along with enhanced parking for boats. Infrastructure improvements are also planned to elevate the overall guest experience.

“We see this campground as an essential part of the local community,” Mulcahy said. “As one of the few RV campgrounds in Waldport, we play a big role in supporting tourism. Our guests contribute to the local economy by dining, shopping, and experiencing the area’s unique attractions. We value our partnerships with local businesses and are excited about the opportunities ahead.”

The Waldport/Newport KOA Journey is one of more than 500 open-to-the-public KOA campgrounds in the U.S. and Canada. KOA’s network also includes KOA Holiday, designed for longer stays with added amenities, and KOA Resort, which provides staff-led activities, dining options, and group meeting spaces.
