The Waiting Room is one of the first rooms you can enter in the Police Station in Resident Evil 2 Remake. Behind the counter is a safe, and for both Claire and Leon, it holds a useful weapon upgrade for their pistols, which are arguably the weapons they’ll both use most.
The code itself can be found later by progressing the game, and below we’ll get into where to find the code. That being said, you can also open the safe at any point by getting the code correct, and here we’ll also tell you exactly what the code is to get an early start on upgrading your weapons.

The following key tips can help to make Resident Evil 2’s hardest difficulty just a little more manageable.
Where To Find The Code For The Waiting Room Safe In Resident Evil 2 Remake
To get the code for the safe, you’ll need to read the Confiscation Report, found in the Observation Room. Despite this room being located on the first floor of the police station, you’ll need to first find the three medallions and progress through the garage, getting the Club Key for Leon and the Heart Key for Claire. The Club Key opens the door to the Observation Room while the Heart Key opens up the door to the Interrogation Room, though the window connecting these rooms is broken letting you move between them even without the other key.
Once inside, look at the filing cabinet along the right corner of the room from entering through the door to find the report. Reading it will bring it with you, letting you refer to the safe code later if needed. The code itself is written on the report, which can be seen past the text that appears on the screen when reading the report.

Waiting Room Safe Code In Resident Evil 2 Remake
The code to the Waiting Room safe is: 6 (left), 2 (Right), and 11 (Left). The way this combination lock works is that you’ll first need to spin it to the left to reach the number 6, stop on 6 for a moment before spinning it to the right to reach the number 2, stop, then spin it to the left to reach 11 before interacting with the lock to open it. This can be done as many times as needed so no need to worry about messing up. Inside you’ll find a weapon upgrade depending on who you are playing as:
- Leon – Muzzle Break (Matilda): Reduces Recoil.
- Claire – High-Capacity Mage (JMB Hp3): Increase magazine size to 26 bullets.
