Following the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2, players have encountered hackers that are using the new Staff of Ice Wonder Weapon from the latest Zombies map “The Tomb.” Call of Duty: Warzone players are frustrated and voiced their concerns on social media, with many wanting better anti-cheat measures and moderation in the game.

Cheating and hacking issues have been affecting Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone in recent months, despite Raven Software and Treyarch’s efforts to improve Call of Duty’s Ricochet Anti-Cheat system in Season 1. The community’s frustrations seemingly reached an all-time high on January 8, shortly after the Call of Duty and Squid Game collaboration was revealed. Many players were outraged that cheaters and hackers are appearing often in Ranked Play and other Call of Duty: Warzone modes, as Activision continues to promote new shop bundles.

New Call of Duty Tweet Sparks Outrage Amidst Ongoing Hacking Issues

With both Warzone and Black Ops 6 continuing to experience a variety of issues, fans are outraged at a controversial tweet from Call of Duty.

A hacker recently used the new Staff of Ice Wonder Weapon from The Tomb Zombies map in a Call of Duty: Warzone match, as spotted by CharlieIntel on Twitter. The hacker is able to get very long-range kills with the Wonder Weapon in quick succession and restock their ammo from the Buy Station to continue mowing down unsuspecting players. Many Call of Duty fans are frustrated that hacks and exploits frequently appear in Warzone, and some users are surprised that hackers are able to utilize newly added content and weapons, such as the Staff of Ice, just a few days after Season 2 began.

Call of Duty: Warzone Hackers Are Using the Staff of Ice Wonder Weapon from Black Ops 6 Zombies

Other Call of Duty: Warzone players are very critical of the situation, stating that Activision and the developers should be more aggressive with anti-cheat measures and pursue legal action against bad actors. Although a new Call of Duty: Warzone weapon balance update is planned for release sometime next week, it’s unlikely that this update will address the ongoing cheating and hacking problems in the game or bring any major fixes.

Before the launch of Season 2, the Call of Duty developers shared a community update to outline improvements that will be made to Ricochet Anti-Cheat and other protective measures for both Black Ops 6 and Warzone in 2025. However, the ongoing issues in Season 2 may continue to erode trust from players if in-game updates aren’t made soon. Call of Duty’s player count has declined on Steam in the past three months, and hackers and server issues may accelerate the declining player count further if players continue to have bad and unfair experiences in Black Ops 6 and Warzone during Season 2.
