San Antonio’s 2025 municipal election will usher in a number of new faces at City Hall as longtime members retire, term out and run for higher office.
The open mayor’s race and races in all 10 City Council districts will appear on the May 3 municipal election ballot.
To participate in that election, you must be registered to vote by April 3. You can check your voter registration status here and register to vote here. Early voting runs April 22 through April 29 for the May 3 election.
Perhaps an even more important date to note in this election is June 7, when the runoff election will be held if no candidate takes at least 50% of the vote in the May election. A runoff is extremely likely in the mayor’s race, as more than a dozen candidates have filed to succeed Mayor Ron Nirenberg, who is termed out after eight years in the role.
Crowded City Council races are also shaping up in a number of districts, including open races in District 4, District 6, District 8 and District 9. Those races will also be decided in a June 7 runoff if no candidate takes at least 50% of the vote in May.
